Another week of moving to @dermotkennedy ‘s music and this time with a surprise visit from an alum 💜

Was so moved by this song after seeing @dermotkennedy in Boston a couple weeks ago. Couldn’t get it out of my head and felt something needed to be created as a result. The goal wasn’t to take a thousand risks or push us to the brink, but to enjoy the movement and really breathe through it. What came out was so beautiful and I’m always so proud of these dancers!

❤️🐶 UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA 🐶🖤 💙🦅 GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY 🦅🤍 More about Kalli Drake (@kalliausten): Kalli was born and raised in Loganville, where she grew up dancing. She is a 2017 graduate of the @universityofga with a bachelor’s in Journalism, and a 2022 graduate of @georgiasouthernuniversity in Statesboro with a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Higher Education Administration. She spent her years at UGA performing and choreographing for the @uga_tapdawgs and served as their president in her senior year. Kalli is trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, and Tap. She has taught as a resident and guest teacher for studios in the Athens area for the past eight years. While her specialty is Tap, Kalli also loves teaching Contemporary, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. Her goal as a teacher is for her dancers to find their confidence and personal artistry through rhythm, groove, and expression. ❤️🐶🖤💙🦅💛 A word to the weary from Kalli: “To the creatives: if you’re feeling tired, uninspired, or like that part of your brain that you’re used to accessing is broken, give yourself permission to rest it. We’ve had to adapt our approaches and methods and learn to function differently but with exhausted brains, and that’s a lot. I was nearing the end of my rope, reaching emotional burnout, and all it took was one week off. Now I’m ready to go full speed ahead. Suddenly I have ideas, dreams, excitement for creating moments that move people. It’s barely been a week and I feel brand new. Give yourself a break. You’re not broken, you haven’t lost your touch. We have a unique offering to the world in times of trial, and that means our voices are needed. Rest them, and when they’re ready, scream the stories you want to tell. They’re worth hearing.” ❤️🖤💙🤍 #TapDanceGoesToCollegeMonth #TapDanceGoesToCollege #UGATapFam #GASouthernTapFam #tapdance

#SaturdayTapVibes: Anyone remember the @uga_tapdawgs? It is the student-run tap dance company at the @universityofga in Athens, Georgia. ❤️🐶🖤 Kalli Drake (@kalliausten) was once their president. A 2017 graduate of UGA and the recipient of a Master of Education in Higher Education from @georgiasouthernuniversity in 2022, Kalli teaches at the @inspireschool in nearby Winder. 🖤🐶❤️💙🦅💛 On the last day of tap classes at INSPIRE back in May, Kalli said an emotional farewell to two of her senior students, who grew up and excelled under her tutelage. It was a great way to celebrate [Inter]National Tap Dance Day that night, and a memory, I’m sure, she will cherish for a long time. #TapDanceGoesToCollegeMonth #TapDanceGoesToCollege #UGATapFam #tapdance Repost from @kalliausten When you actually hit the combo for the first time together as the camera comes out 🙌🏻 Last night of tap class for these two seniors was a great way to celebrate National Tap Dance Day. I will miss them so very much. 💜

And just like that… summer teaching is a wrap. So thankful for every studio, every dancer, every private student, and every opportunity to teach, encourage, and grow together this summer. My heart is full. #ReneePauley4Ballet #RP4B #TrainingWithHeart #BalletTeacher

Thank you dance, for 15 years of memories, late night laughs, my best friends in the world, hundreds of wins, bad hips, my dance family, and for being the thing I love most💜 I’ve been putting off making this post, but summer intensives starting without me made it real. Thank you @inspireschool for allowing me a space to be creative and the opportunity to take the stage. Thank you to everyone I met along the way and to the people I’ll carry with me forever. Thank you to my family for all you’ve done and TYJ for the ability to do what I love. Words can’t describe the gratitude I feel for this art, this studio, and these people. Even though I already miss dancing with my girls, it will never be my last curtain call. So here’s to the best 15 years and many MANY more to come. I love you forever and always, dance!!💜💜
