Ran into a massive Flathead Catfish (Pylodictus olivarus) while surveying for Broadtail Madtoms today. While Flatheads are amazing fish they are unfortunately introduced to many Atlantic Slope rivers and have had serious negative impacts on the native fish communities. Some of the most negatively impacted species have been the native Bullheads and Madtoms which are rare or absent in much of the coastal plain following the introduction of non-native catfish.

We are proud to host a completely free fly tying night every month. These nights start at 7pm, every second Wednesday night of the month. Get out of the cold, get behind a vise, and tie up some fishy bugs!
