One year since my best friend moved on to whatever waits for us all.

I’ve had to remind myself this past year that it’s ok to be happy again. Anytime that I laugh, it’s you at the corner of my smile. You gave me so much joy that I can’t even be happy without you crossing my mind. How lucky am I to have had a love like that? Happiness was the outcome of our shared life so when I feel it again, your presence washes over me. My little fool. My silly goose. My perfect companion. My happiness.

And even though every smile might still be bittersweet, it’s the most wonderful reminder of you. I still look over my shoulder on every walk and I know you’re there, padding along, tongue hanging out over tiny teeth with your goofy smile. My happiness always with me.

Love you forever Gus 💛

Next stop: New Zealand with @docedgefest . This festival has supported us since the early days, including us in their Forum a few years ago, providing us with invaluable connections and creative feedback on our live pitch. Honored to be sending the finished film down, and wish I could join in person!

Should have been my little bud’s 10th birthday today. I had so much anxiety for him turning 10. It felt like it indicated that we were in the last 3rd of our time with him which seemed so insane.

I started taking pics like this when he was a puppy and have hundreds. It’s still hard to think that I won’t take any more. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that my nomadic lifestyle hits a bit different without him. Every day with Gus was so silly and magical. I’m so lucky for time I had with him, once in a lifetime adventures and for the love that lingers. My heart and soul 💛🐾
