So excited for the Cinequest Film Festival debut of the most recent episode we worked on: Ronnie Allman’s Peter Pan! It’s a retelling of the classic tale from a more gritty and modern perspective (captain hook is an evil real-estate developer). There are a lot of motor bike scenes (the lost boys are a biker gang) in the show, so we went out and re-recorded the motorcycle to get the clearest and authentic sound we could. Matt did the sound design, Paul did the re-recording mixing, and Ben helped with additional foley and motorcycle recording. Thanks to the great production team we worked with to make this happen. What a fun, riveting, and engaging project! Can’t wait for the premiere! 💪🧚🎬🏍🗡⛓ @cinequestinc

One of the things I love about this line of work is the variety of projects that sail through the studio doors. This time we’re recording a banjo and voiceover for the The California Museum exhibit on Chinese workers who made significant contributions to the American workforce during the 1800s and 1900s. Super excited for the upcoming exhibit as we wrap up the mixes on the 8 different pieces.

On Tuesday we had our first sound for film masterclass for @sffilm members! We went through everything from preproduction screenwriting, to production sound techniques, to post production composition and sound design. We wanted to convey these steps to the filmmakers “in terms of sound” so they could not only understand the audio oriented side of the business, but also improve communications with sound departments in the future. Hope to do more fun events like these!

Out with the old, and in with the new! We recently parted ways with our old projector and opted in for a new JVC 4k. We installed it just in time for some new film projects and are excited to make our clients happy with it’s brilliant colors and wide color gamut. If you don’t have budget for full sound services but want to screen your film here at Disher, let us know! We’ll be happy to accommodate. 📣💥🥂🎬

Had the pleasure of working on a documentary about the history of SF’s very own Market Street (called 5 Blocks)! It was fascinating to learn just how this main artery has evolved over the years and how it currently inhabits so many different communities. Lots of fun archival sound design on this one! Looking forward to it’s completion. 😊. .
