Some of these moments were big milestones. Others only made sense looking back.

Together, they changed what fitness meant to me. What I valued, what I thought I could do, and who I got to share it with.

These are 10 moments that changed everything.

The Event: The Bob Graham Round

A historic fell running challenge in the English Lake District where the goal is to run 66 miles climbing over 27,000ft within 24 hours to join this exclusive club.

This event was very special to me, it taught me the importance of friendship and community. Thats something that the Lake District is not short of.

Sharing this experience with my best mate @jamie_w_mclaren made it even more special. And being paced, encouraged and supported by such an unbelievable group of people was truly humbling.

The Bob Graham might be an individual challenge on paper, but there's absolutely no way you do something like this alone.

It's the people who make these moments unforgettable.

The Event: APEX FORGE

Apex is a 24 hour endurance challenge inspired by the traditional backyard ultra race format. Each participant had to complete 3 laps totalling (6.8km or 4.167 miles) every hour on the hour. However, this one had a twist!

The final lap consisted of 'Shootout Lap'. A best effort final lap to decide the winner 🏆🥇

This event taught me Persistence

That final loop pushed me to a place I hadn't been before. A point where I genuinely felt like all hope was lost. Physically exhausted, mentally drained, and questioning whether I had anything left to give.

But sometimes it's in those darkest moments, when everything inside you is telling you to stop, that you discover what you're really capable of.

It wasn't about feeling strong or confident. It was about finding a way to keep moving forward when neither of those feelings existed.

The Event: Cape Town Marathon 🇿🇦

The marathon is a distance that demands respect. 26.2 miles where patience, discipline and consistency are just as important as physical fitness.

That's exactly what the 8th Marathon Major taught me.

Going into the race, the goal was to run under 2 hours and 40 minutes. Although I came away with a 2:41, what stood out most was

Stand down. Pretty sure that’s climate breakdown sorted.

Running, talking (often round an open fire), competitive cake-making (I took my self-appointed role as judge very seriously), laughter, more running (including a parkrun), trainer repairs (via @pair.ups), tea. Ace people, brill food, joyful atmosphere.

The inaugural @the.green.runners Gathering, at the Peak District’s Mount Cook Adventure Centre, was a right old woke get together for a weekend of top-notch virtue signalling.

This climate and ecology emergency gets me down sometimes. The frustration, the unfairness, the lies, the greed.

But then there are these other times, which replenish the soul. Where you meet people who understand, who bring hope, ideas, momentum, courage, ingenuity, selflessness, compassion and dare I say it, spirituality. Or at least sensational cake and a willingness to wash up.

Here’s to next year’s 🙏👌💚💚💚🙌

Special thanks @danobeaumont and @instaninjaid for incredible work organising and cooking. And thanks Mount Cook for accommodating my private jet.

Day 88 of project salt run, today we wanted to give a special shout out to @yourexhale.

@yourexhale have given us our biggest @wearegivestar donation to date, they have also sent out a bunch of coffee to us which unfortunately is still held up in customs with another things we sent at the start of December from the UK 😭. Luckily we have some friends coming out on Friday and they have brought some of @yourexhale coffee with them. We can’t wait to get our hands on it, and a yummy cup of coffee!

We were first introduced to @yourexhale through @instaninjaid (aka, Hannah’s Running Coach), if you haven’t heard of Nina, you need to give her a follow, she’s one of the co-founders of @the.green.runners and one of the nicest people you will ever meet 💚.

Exhale was born in lockdown and it exists to help reconnect people with their natural potential through a more natural way of wellness!

This is where coffee fits in. Coffee is both the fuel that ignites your potential, and can be a natural way to support your health in a meaningful way... if it’s shown the love and care it deserves.

Exhale have crafted the sourcing and roasting process to a tee, so they can lock in as much of the natural goodness as possible.

This means that as well as having caffeine to turn you into an instant superhero, it’s packed with natural antioxidants, polyphenols and vitamin B3 to support your health, brain and longevity.

No overcomplication. No added nothingness. No PhD needed to understand what on earth you’re putting in your body.

We can’t wait to get our first cup of Exhale coffee, and thank you so much team Exhale for supporting us. It means the world 🧡

I can’t tell the whole story in a one-minute reel, so watch my stories, but I really need your help.

We’re fundraising for @bigchangecharity, running 100 marathons in 100 days across India stating Saturday and right now it can only happen if we get Alex out on time on the next virgin flight tomorrow as our airline HAS NO SEATS TILL THE 3rd!

Please tag @holly_branson, @bransonsam, who randomly are charity trustees, @richardbranson, @simonsquibb, or anyone you know at @virginatlantic who might be able to help get him on tomorrows flight.

Every share counts. this one could change everything. ✈️💙 #ProjectSaltRun #BigChange #VirginAtlantic
