One of the most touching moments of my life to pass on a little of Jim’s story and these awards to such inspiring and deserving young students from our IFE @sc_summercamps. ❤️

Lovely to join the @euintheus Ambassador, @coachkemps, and IFE for a Future of AI Dinner on “Making AI Usable: Competitive AI Innovation on Both Sides of the Atlantic.”

The transatlantic relationship has long been a cornerstone of innovation and shared prosperity. As AI reshapes our economies, institutions, and societies, that partnership is becoming even more important. The future of trustworthy, competitive AI will depend on close collaboration across both sides of the Atlantic.

It was especially fitting that the Estonian Ambassador was in attendance. Estonia is featured as a case study in my upcoming book, based on extensive collaboration with the country’s Chief AI Officer and its remarkable journey in digital government and AI leadership.

If it's summer, it's pickleball! ☀️

The @instituteforeducation and @coachkemps recently hosted two pickleball round robin events at Congressional Country Club, sending off two tenured ambassadors in Washington to their next posts: Estonian Ambassador Kristjan Prikk and Luxembourg Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian. The ambassadors were joined by their diplomatic colleagues for the friendly game and lunch on the terrace.

Excited to launch Chiefs of AI, our newest initiative at @instituteforeducation.

Federal Chief AI Officers are stepping into roles that barely existed a few years ago. This roundtable series is designed to give them a trusted space to share best practices, navigate challenges, and build community as AI rapidly reshapes government and society.

Thank you to IFE President R. David Edelman for your leadership in bringing this to fruition and to the Embassy of @belgium_unitedstates for hosting our inaugural gathering.

A full circle moment.

Almost 10 years ago, I started at the Institute for Education working behind the scenes on conversations like this. This Monday, I had the chance to moderate our panel on democratizing the cloud with two incredible leaders @cmesidor, Executive Director of Blockchain Foundation, and 3x founder and CEO of Reality Network Wyatt Meldman-Floch.

So proud of the work @instituteforeducation continues to do bringing people together across sectors at a moment when these conversations matter more than ever.

Most of all, grateful to @coachkemps for her mentorship and belief in me over the past decade.

We have much more exciting programming to come this year as we continue to celebrate our 35th Anniversary here at IFE!

How do we use technology to actually change lives? That was the big question as the @instituteforeducation celebrated the 2026 White House Presidential Innovation Fellows at @estonia_in_us, a world leader in digital governance.

This cohort represents our nation’s leading technologists, dedicated to harnessing breakthrough tech to better serve the public. From streamlining government to tackling global challenges, they are officially at the forefront of civic evolution.

As the "Honorary Mayor of Civic Tech," I’m thrilled to welcome these brilliant minds to DC, introduce them to the world of cultural diplomacy and watch them build the future of public service.

A huge thanks to Ambassador @kprikk, @liisprikk, and Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Martin Roger for their hospitality and insights. 🇺🇲🇪🇪

Cheers to the 2026 cohort – let’s get to work!

It was a profound honor to join HRH Grand Duke Guillaume and Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian in NYC for the 12th Luxembourg-American Business Award Gala.

The energy in the room was electric! Grand Duke Guillaume brings a fresh perspective as a champion of the digital age. While many nations are still playing catch-up, Luxembourg is sprinting ahead, fueled by his passion for innovation, openness, and a digital-first mindset.

This evening was more than just a celebration of economic ties—it was personal. As someone of Lëtzebuerger heritage, seeing my own family history reflected in the enduring, tech-forward bond between the U.S. and Luxembourg is incredibly moving.

For 35 years, the @instituteforeducation has partnered with @luinwashington to dive deep into the future of emerging markets, Blockchain and AI innovation.

Thank you to @laccnyc for a truly magnificent evening. Here’s to the next 35 years of innovation and friendship! 🇺🇸🇱🇺

This weekend, my daughter Christina and I had the joy of witnessing @tomas.kloosterman marry his radiant bride,@mariferzac, in magical San Miguel de Allende. But for me, the celebration started years ago when Tomás joined the @instituteforeducation as an intern while at @americanuniversity.

I started as his mentor, teaching him the unwritten rules of DC diplomacy. But the roles quickly reversed.

While I taught him leadership, Tomás was pulling us into the future—launching our digital presence and upskilling me on communicating our mission to a global, tech-savvy audience.

Tomás went on to become a fellow and advisor to the organization I founded before serving the public at @sbagov and @statedept. In 35 years and over 1,000 interns, Tomás is, without question, an IFE all-star and one-of-a-kind champion.

Watching him at the altar reminded me that the best part of mentorship isn't just seeing someone succeed—it’s the lasting and evolving friendship where the coach becomes the student.

Felicidades, Tomás and Mariafernanda! Wishing you a life as full of warmth, wonder, and adventure as San Miguel itself. 🥂 🇲🇽

Happy birthday to a true trailblazer: Justice Sandra Day O’Connor! 🎾⚖️

Most know her for shattering one of the world’s toughest glass ceilings at the Supreme Court, but I was honored to know her as a competitor on the tennis court.

Behind the robes, she was a powerhouse—resilient, determined, and incredibly focused. She fought for every single point, never conceded ground, and always came back stronger after a mistake. She simply never gave up on the game.

As we celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, let’s honor her legacy. Whether in the courtroom or on the court, she proved that how you play the game matters just as much as the win.
