I am also the Founder/Director of The Middle Room gallery in Los Angeles. The Middle Room is an artist-run and artist-centered contemporary art gallery concentrating on mid-career women artists and creating conversation and community in connection with Institute for Visual Arts—located together in the Atwater Village neighborhood of LA. Created in 2023 to give support and exhibition opportunities to contemporary local and national artists, The Middle Room concentrates on showing often overlooked mid-career women artists, and on creating connections and conversations, building community, and expanding awareness, inquiry, dialogue, integrity, and education. #SAFtakeover #artistparent #artistmother #artistrungallery @shannonraefincke @themiddleroomgallery @instituteforvisualarts

We are so excited to announce our vendors this week kicking it off with @instituteforvisualarts We had the pleasure of meeting Douglas, IVA’s Managing Partner and Director of Operations, while headed to the local farmers market. Workshop participant gluing the cover to her handmade ‘Meandering Fold’ book. This is my favorite fold because it’s so versatile- the book unfolds like a stream or a winding road, and zigzags from vertical to horizontal in sections. It’s a fun trigger for creative content because it’s so open and changeable. It’s always a delight to see what people do with it. The Meandering Fold style will be the format for @leavingearthproject book when it is finally assembled. 🔝join my mailing list via the link in bio for more workshops like this and to find out more about becoming a part of The Leaving Earth Artist book project. Thanks to @themiddleroomgallery and @instituteforvisualarts for hosting this fun bookmaking event. #bookartschallenge #bookmakingworkshop #booklover #artistbook #paperarts #leavingearthproject #amandamears.studio @amandamears.studio #craftstudiostories #craftinamerica #craftcontemporary
