2 of my favourite things combined- @perfecttedenergy and @thegirlsbathroom so ofc I had to RUN to Tesco to get this and it did not disappoint! Banana bread 🤤 🤩

I have to say @starbucksuk smashed this matcha flavour! Tastes exactly like apple crumble 🍏 had a few of these already this autumn 🫣

@instowarms the biggest portion of moules mariniere ever! So yummy but definitely could share this 🐟

@barl.ush the best bottomless brunch I’ve ever done- no time limit and a set amount of drinks means you can actually enjoy each drink rather than rushing for the next🤣 such unreal food and cocktails 🍹

On Sunday 20th September I complete my Tarka Trail Challenge. 💛

Almost 12 months after setting off from Instow, tomorrow (after playing rugby for my team @okehamptonrfc against @barnstaplerfc ) I’ll run back there and complete 180 miles of running and hiking the Tarka Trail.

But before I finish, I wanted to remind everyone why I started.

For the last year I’ve been raising money and awareness for @_place2be and children’s mental health.

Place2Be works through schools, supporting children and young people with their mental health, as well as helping teachers, school staff and families recognise when a child might be struggling and know how to support them.

Growing up in rural Devon, where we can live a long way from towns and services, I think having support available through schools really matters.

I’m lucky to have family, friends and teachers I can talk to.

Not every child does.

So as I head into my final few miles, please help me support @_place2be – donate if you can, share my challenge, or simply start a conversation about children’s mental health. 💛

Every child should have someone to talk to.

One more run. 🦦

A U G - T E M B E R | 🍂
•
We can’t quite believe it’s the middle of September. August feels like a lifetime ago 🤍
•
Long sunny days until the very first little hints of autumn began to appear. Warm sunshine, dramatic skies, colourful Appledore streets and evenings that slowly began to draw in 🤍
•
We’ve had a wonderfully busy summer down here in Appledore. A flurry of family visits, gorgeous walks, drinks & dinners with friends, cosy evenings enjoying our local pubs and restaurants, and of course welcoming more lovely guests to our cottage by the sea 🐚
•
And as August became September, another lovely guest described our cottage as “beautifully renovated, with every aspect carefully considered” It was also lovely to read that they particularly enjoyed @trg_appledore and @flame_factory - two of our own favourites and both only a short stroll away 🤍
•
Now we’re halfway through September and looking forward to golden evening walks, visits to our special place - @arlingtoncourtnt, stocking the log burner and everything this next beautiful season brings to Mariners Cottage 🍂

POSTCARDS FROM… 🎨📮
Painting the places I go, one little memory at a time.

What if, instead of just taking a photograph of somewhere you love, you painted the memory?

That’s how Postcards From… began.

Over the past few months, my sketchbook has travelled with me, from Leigh-on-Sea and the Essex coast to Devon, Madeira, Istanbul and beyond, capturing the places, views, flowers, cafés and little everyday moments that make somewhere memorable.

Some are painted in watercolour and gouache. Some are quick sketches made while I’m sitting right there. And some begin with a tiny detail that catches my eye and makes me want to reach for my paints.

They’re not meant to be perfect representations of a place.

They’re my hand-painted memories of being there. ❤️

What started as a few travel sketches has gradually become Postcards From… an ongoing collection of original hand-painted postcards inspired by the places I visit and the stories I find along the way.

I’ve even posted some of the originals to friends and family from the places where they were painted, which somehow makes them feel even more special.

And I think that’s what I love most about this little project.

In a world where we can take hundreds of photographs in seconds, there’s something rather lovely about sitting still long enough to paint one moment.

Swipe through my Postcards From… journey so far ➡️

📮 Now tell me — where should I take my sketchbook next?

𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎…

A little idea that has been quietly growing this summer.

Whenever I visit somewhere new, I don’t always reach for my camera… I often reach for my sketchbook.

I love capturing a moment, a feeling, a little piece of a place through painting. There’s something so special about a hand-painted memory, something that slows you down and tells a story.

This summer I found myself painting postcards from the places I visited… Devon, Istanbul, Leigh-on-Sea, Durham and more.

I even sent some of these hand-painted postcards to friends and family while I was there.

And that’s when the idea began…

Postcards From… a collection of hand-painted postcards inspired by the places I visit and the memories I make along the way.

Not just postcards to send, but little pieces of art to share, treasure, and perhaps collect.

I’d love to take you on this journey with me. Where should my sketchbook travel next?
