I was captivated by this beautiful garden in the middle of bustling Shanghai! 🌿 We went first thing in the morning while it was still shady. The garden was coming to life with blooming plants, swaying bamboo, and hanging vines. And so many pavilions, bridges, and archways. 🪭 I’d highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway on your Shanghai trip. Think you can handle the spice? 🌶️ The infamous Chongqing hot pot. 🍜 In a city where the heat is extreme, the locals here love their spicy food. Even in the gift stores, they sell magnets and toys shaped like cute little hot pots. 🥰 This city prides themself in this notoriously spicy dish, so you can’t leave Chongqing without trying one. You’ll see many restaurants advertising hot pots while driving through Chongqing, but our group managed to get a reservation at the Qing Kitchen, located inside a beautiful JW Marriott hotel. 🍜 @jwmarriotthotels I loved the set up! The spicy soup pots are brought to the table, and your individual stove is turned on so the soup will start boiling while you walk around and select your ingredients. When you return, add in the ingredients and enjoy! 🥢 My group was quickly adding water to the pots and wiping tears from their eyes. 🔥 It was the best. Be sure to visit after dark! 🏮 Tips and info below. Datang Everbright City is a massive stretch of shops, activities, and food that comes to life at night in Xi’an, China. While this spot is open during the day, it’s recommended that you visit after dark to experience the magic of the lights and performances. ✨ THINGS TO DO: 🏮 Taste authentic Xi’an cuisine (and more). There are so many good food and snack options! 🏮 Enjoy light and water shows. It seems like everywhere I looked, there was some sort of show happening or about happen. 🏮 Wear Hanfu to immerse yourself in a dream back to the Tang Dynasty. This was very popular, with many clothing rental services advertised. 🏮 Shop local art and souvenirs. There are so many shopping options! 🏮 Discover live Tang-style performances to get a glimpse into Tang history and culture. Don’t miss this restaurant in Beijing! 🍜 Located in the beautiful Lotus Market, this restaurant has waterfront views and amazing food. 🪷 They welcomed our group at sunset time, and brought out awesome food and drinks, including many vegetarian options. I loved the spicy tofu! 🥢 We visited during the year of the dragon, so hovering over the strip of shops and restaurants was a massive, winding, lit up dragon. 🐉 Such a cool experience. After dinner, the Lotus market is perfect for wandering. We bought dessert and stopped in little shops along the way. 🍨 Thank you to @elite.voyages for including this spot on our tour! Exploring the Great Wall of China. 🇨🇳 Such a bucket list moment. A wonder of the world. I couldn’t believe I was actually here! I explored about 4 towers, taking in the majesty of it all. It was hot and humid, but I didn’t even care. 🤍 I could’ve kept walking for miles. 📸 VISITORS TIPS 📸 LOCATION: We visited the Mutianyu section of the wall, which I would definitely recommend. It’s much less crowded than the popular Badaling section. For seasoned hikers, however, the Jinshanling section is recommend for its stunning views. CABLE CAR: There are options to walk up to the wall. Trust me, take cable car if offered, and save your energy for walking the wall! 🚠 UNEVEN SURFACES: There are many steep and uneven steps on the wall. I saw a lady fall and need medical attention. Be very careful. WHAT TO BRING: - Comfortable shoes - Water - Sun protection - Bug protection - There are shops at the entrance to buy drinks and snacks if needed 🫶🏻 Share with someone who needs to add the Great Wall to their bucket list! Their favorite was the bananas. 🍌 Spending time at this elephant sanctuary was one of the highlights of the trip. 🐘 Spared from a life of work, these elephants spend their days relaxing, free roaming, and getting pet and fed by visitors. ❤️ We first bonded with the elephants by feeding them their favorite snack- bananas. They then munched on corn stalks while we took photos with them. 📸 And I loved getting to hand make their supplements, which looked like giant veggie meatballs. We learned about all the healthy ingredients involved, and then hand fed those to the elephants too. 🙏🏻 As a person who loves animals, this was an experience of a lifetime. 😍 ❤️ Share with someone who loves elephants! 🐘 📍 @elephantjunglesanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
