A little look at the 2025 tbr as of now! This year I really haven't been able to come up with a number goal. I don't feel a strong need to aim for a certain number. There are just several specific books I've been wanting to read l, most of them shown here, and so the goal is mainly just to get through these. Also planning on doing more slow physical reading and relying on audiobooks a little less as the experience is just more relaxing reading physical copies even if it's a bit slower for me! What are some of the books you're looking forward to reading the most this year? - - #2025TBR #ReadingGoals #TBRList #BooksToRead #UpcomingReads #BooksOfInstagram #ReadingChallenge #BibliophileGoals #BookLovers #TBRStack #FictionAndNonfiction #LiteraryAdventures #MustReadBooks #BookishPlans #ReadingCommunity #NextReads #TBRGoals #YearOfReading #BookishThoughts #ReadingInspiration

#coffeeandcurrentlyreading / #readingupdate Thanks to @rainforest_bookshelf and @book.n.films for tagging me!  -Anne of Green Gables: just started it, I am on page 35. This one often comes up in conversations about people's fav comfort reads or childhood classics or generally fav books, so you might be surprised to hear that I have not only not read it yet, but actually have no clue whatsoever what it's about! This beautiful edition was calling to me in a used books store and that's mainly why I bought it but so far, it's very cute and bubbly and makes me feel warm in my otherwise cold soul. So that's nice.  -The Exorcist: listening to it on audio and I am about 80% through it. This one was recommended to me by EVERYONE BASICALLY, and it's another one which I had somehow successfully avoided reading or knowing much about. I think I once saw a scene from the movie but that was forever ago. Two things I really like about it are 1. The writing style and 2. The fact that it makes me laugh a lot (it's probably not necessarily supposed to be this funny but I can't help myself). Will definitely have a full review on it once I am finished!  -Paradise Lost: ha! This one was actually just mentioned in the Exorcist, seems like I am really having a theme here with all the Satanic stuff muhaha. I am also just on page 10, but this is definitely one to take in slowly and carefully, so that's okay. I am also back with TAAAABS, it's been a while...  -The Brothers Karamazov: I almost feel like a cheater putting this on here since I am barely making any progress with this one. And it has been like that for weeks. Somehow I am not able to get into this book and that genuinely makes me feel bad! I've read about half of it by now. I took a longer break (my Dostoyevsky counselor @bowie_on_mars told me that's okay) in June/July 'cause of family related stuff, but the past month I was trying to get back into it, unfortunately not successfully. It probably is just me, but I am thinking of putting it aside for an undetermined time. please stay friends with me, y'all!  Tagging some friendos - have fun!  Let me know what you think of these books here!!

In the running for the best bio I've ever read. American Prometheus tells the life story of J Robert Oppenheimer, the man who ran the Manhattan Project and became known as the father of the Atomic Bomb The narrative of Oppenheimer's life is engrossing enough just due to the high stakes he was engaged in from even an early age as a standout physicist in a new field. But combine that with political intrigue around WW2 and the McCarthy era red scare and you have even more material for wrestling with the philosophical questions that his life posed. I was particularly engaged with how he conducted his personal life and relationships while being a genius in his vocation, what is an acceptable sacrifice to your family when you're the only or one of the only people who can do what you do? Is loyalty to your country defined by service or by full agreement, or both? I was engaged with how incredibly human Oppenheimer was, while also clearly being at the top of what a human mind can be. It's absolutely worth a read/listen and if you have any interest in history this book is absolutely an entertaining must read! Do you enjoy biographies? What's your favorite biography?

Finally finished the Count of Monte Cristo! Also my bad for not posting since January, just plain didn’t feel like it! There are so many incredible moments spread through this insanely long book. The first quarter moves at a break neck speed through so many events that set up the story and gets the books hooks in you to HAVE to know how it’s going to be resolved. The middle can feel a bit slow as the tone shifts dramatically, but if you look at it as a sequel with a different tone to tell a different kind of story it feels equally intriguing. The final quarter of the book is one of the most thrilling and satisfying pieces of literature I’ve ever read as we watch Edmond work out his plans with surgical precision. Certain moments actually made my jaw drop. Lots of talk of justice and vengeance and all of that jazz. But I think what I’d be fascinated to hear from y’all on is the way God is portrayed behind the events of the story…this idea that in being a vengeful God he’s actually being a merciful one. Seems like such a departure from the way God is taught in a lot of circles, but I’m curious if anyone else found that different or interesting! Anyways it was a blast and I have no idea what to read next after 3 months in this one 😂 Here are 20 hashtags for a post about *The Count of Monte Cristo*: #TheCountOfMonteCristo #AlexandreDumas #ClassicLiterature #LiteraryMasterpiece #RevengeStory #HistoricalFiction #BooksOfInstagram #TimelessReads #MustReadClassics #EpicAdventure #FictionLover #BookReview #IconicReads #FrenchLiterature #ClassicNovel #DumasFans #BookLovers #AdventureAndJustice #ReadingClassics #BookCommunity
