Over 12 years ago GRN+GLD brought to the world it’s very first offering. Founding member and label head Dirty Merlin released their very first official release, F.Y.D.B EP on October 22, 2012. Now here we are, so many years and memories later bringing you our 100th. Dozens of EPs & LPs, a handful of compilations, and over 30 solo artists, GRN+GLD has gone much farther than just the idea of a search for a community, although it still proudly carries the torch of that original idea. A music label, a collective, a blatant lie, and now a discography in the triple digits. Here’s to the friends we’ve found, the moments we’ve shared, the music we’ve made, and one hundred more releases. Enjoy a small sampling of photos from over the years. Now here’s a callback:

—— about GG100 ——
Dirty Merlin returns to us once again with the second release in their self-proclaimed “Year of The Dirt.” This one is a cousin/companion/sequel EP to his prior ‘Don’t Think EP’ released back in 2023 via GG094. The ‘Fluid EP’ picks up where ‘Don’t Think’ left off, bringing hip-hop vocals flipped and paired with dancefloor beats. However, this time bringing a femme led vocal roster, house focused trax, and an overarching theme of gender’s construction, deconstruction, and performance. Lead track “Armand Van Fluid” is a cheeky nod to the production stylings of East Coast OG Armand Van Helden, infused with lush chords that sharply contrast with the raunchy, sex-positive anthemic vocal sample. Simultaneously deep and atmospheric, yet also bouncy, silly, and horny, this one is a true delight. In second track “Gender Milk” Dirty Merlin finds inspiration in classic vogue and 90s house while maintaining their signature gritty west-coast sound. Deep bass growls paired alongside an iconic vocal sample preaching non-conformity and self-expression/self-determination form a cohesive yet original whole. Throw in some instrumental dub versions and a dialed back vibraphone edit and you have yourself a full bouquet of an EP. Much more to come. Enjoy!
