I just realized I had never posted a proper wrist shot of this one.

With Universal Genève back in the spotlight and auction prices reaching crazy levels, this seemed like the right moment.

Still one of my favorite uses of color from the brand. The blue bezel, white registers, and bright red chronograph hand make for a combination that’s impossible to ignore.

NWA, a different side of the Polerouter.

The Polerouter is usually associated with elegance and clean design, but the Polerouter Sub tells a completely different story. Built with purpose, this reference 869124/02 brings a more technical and sporty edge to one of the brand’s most iconic lines.

What immediately stands out is the asymmetry (from the case to the date window) giving the watch a distinct personality that sets it apart from anything else in the Polerouter family. The matte black dial, paired with bold accents and an acrylic bezel, creates a look that feels both functional and unmistakably vintage.

Continuing the Tri-Compax series.

What makes the Tri-Compax so compelling isn’t just the complication, it’s the diversity within the name. Same foundation, yet completely different expressions depending on the era, case design, dial layout, and execution.

Steel or gold, tachymeter or clean outer track, applied numerals or long indices, each reference carries its own personality while staying true to the same idea: a full calendar chronograph executed the Universal Genève way.

Few models evolved this much without losing their identity. The Tri-Compax did.

Some watches make you wonder why it took you so long to truly appreciate them. This Tri-Compax Ref. 222100/1 is exactly that for me.

I had always admired the 1940s examples of this complication, but it wasn’t until having this later reference in hand that I fully understood the design. These Tri-Compax model came in two dial layouts: the more common /2 with a blue outer tachymeter, and this /1, where the absence of that scale allows the long indices to run all the way to the chapter ring. Paired with the dauphine hands, the result feels cleaner, calmer, and more balanced.

The 36mm case features Gérald Genta’s twisted lugs (first seen on the Polerouter) while subtle details bring the dial to life: the red moon-phase date hand, the metallic blue wheel, and the linen-textured dial surface beneath it all.

A quiet reminder of how well Universal Genève understood proportion and restraint.
