POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We’re taking a closer look at the variety of textures and surfaces featured in our current exhibition “clay AND.”

This exhibition of sculptural works explores how artists combine clay with other media to deepen and expand the meaning of their work.

Stop by the Schacht Gallery to experience the exhibition for yourself, or view all of the exhibition works online at the link in our bio.

This is the day! clayAND opens @saratogaclayarts 5-7pm tonight! Online too.

I selfishly organized this show so I could explore how artists are combining clay with other materials -- something I have started exploring this past year myself. It's a ton of fun and I love how each artist brings something different to the theme. I will share more pictures later!

And I'm excited to share that another iteration of this show will be at @nceca in Baltimore in March with the same artists. Excited!

Daily, I walk past this poster that rests amongst our wake of life things. It sits as a reminder of what an amazing woman I get to spend my days with. What a line up to headline in a poster. @iopalmer is an inspiration. How’d she do that? What’s most impressive to me is her consistent curiosity, humility and openness. A consummate student. #improbablyintroublenow #proud

Place your bid on stunning artworks made by Wurlitzer alumn at the Summer Arts Fest Auction, this July 18th, 2026.

TODAY'S AUCTION PREVIEW:

"Bramble" 2026
by Io Palmer
Clay, underglaze, glaze, wood, paint, wire

The piece is a wall-mounted sculpture composed of hand-formed ceramic elements, wire, and wood. Organic forms and linear structures gather into a dynamic composition inspired by growth, movement, and systems found in nature.

Inspired by interior and exterior home decor landscapes, Io Palmer's artworks explore the complex issues surrounding class, capitalism and societal excess. Trained originally as a ceramicist, Palmer uses a variety of processes and materials including fabric, steel, sound and wood. Io has been featured in several national and international exhibitions including Dakart-International Arts Biennial, Dakar, Senegal; Working History, Reed College, Portland, OR; Hair Follies, Concordia University, Montreal and Rush Gallery, New York City, NY. Solo exhibitions at the Boise Art Museum, ID, PDX Airport, OR, York College, CUNY, Jamaica, NY; Deluge Contemporary, Victoria, BC; The Art Gym at Marylhurst University, Marylhurst, OR.
