History in the making! For the first time, a Refugee Olympic Team will compete at the Youth Olympic Games.

We are excited to see our very own Ugandan-based refugee athletes, Florence Masembe (Women’s 200m) and Rachid Rochene (Men’s 200m), join the team as they prepare to represent the Refugee Olympic Team in Dakar, Senegal.

Their selection is a reminder of the power of sport to create opportunities, inspire hope and bring people together. We wish Florence and Rachid the very best as they prepare for this historic moment!

Meet the refugee athletes heading to Senegal!

Grateful for the opportunity to participate in the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course (CLC) Level 1, held in Kampala from 19–22 October 2026, hosted by the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) in partnership with TAFISA under the SÜCCEED Programme.

My sincere appreciation to UOC, TAFISA, the facilitators, particularly Dr. Katongo Bwalya from Zambia and Zama from Eswatini, and all the partners who made this learning experience valuable.

As a Communications Officer, this opportunity means more than professional development. It has broadened my understanding of how sport can drive social development, inclusion and community transformation. It has also strengthened my appreciation of strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, digital innovation and storytelling in advancing Sport for All.

I look forward to applying these insights in my work, communicating the impact of community sport more effectively, amplifying the voices of those benefiting from these initiatives and building stronger connections between sport and the communities it serves.

As we look towards the next phase of the course, I am excited to deepen this knowledge and turn learning into practical action.

Because effective communication does more than share information; it connects people, inspires participation and helps turn a vision into impact.

The course concluded with the awarding of TAFISA Certified Leadership Course Level 1 certificates, recognising participants who successfully completed the programme and their commitment to advancing Sport for All.

Throughout the four days, participants explored inclusive programme design, effective leadership, good governance, safeguarding, gender equality, resource mobilisation, sustainability and the power of strategic partnerships in building stronger sporting communities.

Beyond the certificates, the real impact lies in what comes next.

Equipped with new knowledge, practical tools and strengthened networks, the participants are better positioned to develop initiatives that respond to community needs, expand participation and create lasting social impact through sport.

The conclusion of the course marks not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter in advancing inclusive and sustainable sport in Uganda.

Because sport is more than competition. It is an opportunity to connect communities, transform lives and ensure that no one is left behind.

FROM LEARNING TO LEGACY | TAFISA CERTIFIED LEADERSHIP COURSE CONCLUDES IN KAMPALA

Four days of learning, collaboration and innovation, one shared vision: making sport accessible to everyone. 🌍

The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), through its Social Development through Sport Commission, has concluded the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course (CLC) Level 1, held in Kampala from 19–22 October 2026, in partnership with TAFISA under the SÜCCEED Programme.

The final day focused on turning knowledge into action, with participants exploring how digital innovation, technology and media can expand access to sport and strengthen community engagement.

Participants refined their Sport for All project proposals and presented their ideas to a panel comprising representatives from UOC, TAFISA and partners. The presentations provided an opportunity to demonstrate their learning, receive feedback and explore practical solutions to barriers that limit participation in sport and physical activity.
