NSW Open Boulder Team Comp Sim 🎉

Two weeks ago we brought the whole NSW Open Boulder team together for our first full format comp simulation ahead of the 2026 Oceania and Australian Boulder Nationals. A full round for the athletes, real floor time for our judges and a genuine development opportunity for our routesetters to work in a competition environment.

It was a great example of the community getting behind the team and making these opportunities possible. We’re really grateful to everyone who gave their time, shared their knowledge and helped create the day.

Thank you to Nomad @nomadboulderingsyd for hosting, our routesetting team Will Hammersla, Sam Healy, Sam Lav and Katrina Villamor @willhammersla @sam.sft.hly @sam.lavender @ommydays_ , our officials Eric Yap @ericisjoonloong and Yuki Wen @theblondarcher , Emma Horan @emmawarriorprincess for facilitating the coach component,

Also thanks to Irene @ira_climbing and Tom Farrell @tfarrell2570 for their support across the day and the SCNSW board @ninjaneer22 @yeyenogood @penster45 @jodie__falls @cuppa_t_ for all the work behind the scenes.

Thanks as well to the Aus Team athletes who joined in and helped lift the level.

Looking forward to seeing our NSW athletes out on the wall this week. Stoked and full of psyche.

SCNSW ✨💟

Take a look at what went down at Waterloo’s Comp Simulation last week 👀

It’s a rare occasion to have top level climbers train in one place and the opportunity for 9D to host and set high level boulders to support the Aus team and their progression.

Big thank you to all the setters, Aus team climbers and coaches who made this day possible 🙏

These boulders will be up for another 2 weeks if you’re curious to try!

We’ve had a few special guests roaming the walls at Nomad over the past month, as our Head Setter @willhammersla puts the Australian Team through their paces ahead of the international season kicking off in April.

Last week, the athletes put their training to the test with a full comp simulation.

A huge thank you to our community for making the team feel at home and for sharing the space so generously. Champions aren’t built in isolation, they’re forged in supportive communities.

🎢 2025…

🌏 Visited Bali, USA, Canada, Japan, Melbourne and the North Coast

🧗🏻‍♀️Climbing was its own ride with a torn rotator cuff and three finger pulleys, but also 2nd in NSW for both lead & boulder. Most excitingly, being part of the Australian team for the Nations Grand Finale, I learnt so much and am incredibly grateful to have shared it with such a sick team #2H

🥷 Placed 8th at Ninja Worlds and almost 2nd in the endurance course, but missed the buzzer by a millimetre. Also started coaching my adult ninja class and we are all loving it! If you’re keen to give it a go, hit me up

🫶 immensely grateful to my sponsors @clifbar.au @climbinganchors and everyone who was part of the ride

Seoul World Championships 🇰🇷 - P 25

I’ve left this post so late because I honestly didn’t know what to say. 3 years ago when I started world cups at 16 I told myself semis in 3 years or I quit. I’m not going to quit. I don’t think I could, but I am honestly disappointed being so close so many times now. After a pretty consistent year in the low 30s sometimes just a couple attempts out of semis I know what I am capable of. Finishing the year off with a 25th at the biggest comp of the season feels bittersweet. Definitely a hard pill to swallow when I consider the hours I’ve spent working to fund my season and the hours spent training for the most part alone. I understand that sacrifice doesn’t equal success but I’ll continue to do what I can to be a better climber.

I’m incredibly grateful for my parents who continue to support my dream (I’m never moving out) ❤️🙀👹

Thank you @ira_climbing for the support this comp 🙏

Time for a tiny break outdoors while I heal some injuries and get ready to train more and hopefully post more too.
