Khalid Raji is a multidisciplinary artist based in Marrakech, Morocco, working across dance, photography, and design. Rooted in movement and guided by culture, his practice explores identity as something layered, evolving, and deeply human.

Through physical expression and visual storytelling, he creates narratives shaped by vulnerability, cultural memory, and emotional nuance. Drawing from both contemporary influences and everyday Moroccan life, his work invites us to pause and find meaning in ordinary moments.

We’re honored to feature his work at Deserted Photo Booth for the month of March. Welcome all.

@irbrooke uncovers the rich layers of Moroccan society and culture in his series They All Swim in an Orbit, seamlessly blending anthropology and sociology with his artistic expressions. He expressed that this project is a deeply personal journey—one of rediscovery and self-exploration, where every frame echoes his roots and captures the essence of the world in front of him.

#GreifGuestRoom: Der Greif has invited Michael Famighetti (@michaelfamighetti), editor in chief of Aperture magazine (@aperturefnd) and the editorial program, to curate a Guest Room. Michael Famighetti crafted the following theme for your submissions: “SUPER SIGHT”.

"Berenice Abbott made stunning pictures of objects and scientific phenomena in the 1950s. To do so, she developed a process she called 'Super Sight,' based on the ancient camera obscura, producing stunning, hypnotic images that scaled up small objects without the use of a photographic enlarger. Abbott’s process revealed strange, orderly phenomena, probed the nature of objects, revealing forms, textures, and patterns that would normally go unnoticed. For this edition of Guest Room, we are seeking images that broadly play on Abbot’s notion of Super Sight – images that parse the surface of the everyday to reveal something curious, unexpected, abstract, and the otherworldly close to home."

📍Selection 15:
⚡Khalid Raji (@irbrooke)
⚡Alexander Komenda (@alexanderkomenda)
⚡Ana Lía Orézzoli (@analiapop)

✍️ Khalid Raji: A 24-year-old photographer and dancer hailing from Casablanca, Morocco. My journey into the world of art was shaped by my experiences dancing in the streets and traveling across the country for competitions. Immersed in Morocco’s rich cultural tapestry, i found myself captivated by the vibrant diversity of people and the rhyth- mic harmony of life.

✍️ Alexander (b. 1992) is a Polish-Canadian documentary photographer who looks to dignify his subjects through reciprocity and understanding. He is interested in how everyday occurrence fits into wider geopolitical and socio economic questions.

✍️ Ana Lía Orézzoli (b. 1981) is a peruvian visual artist and educator. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Studio Arts College International (Florence, Italy) and a BA in Communication from Universidad de Lima.

⚡Hiro Tanaka (@hiro.tanaka.7545)
⚡Lauren Kaigg (@lauren.kaigg)

✍️ Hiro Tanaka: An interesting coincidence led him to start taking photographs - after accidentally winning a free trip to the United States through raffles at a shopping mall in Tokyo, Tanaka started travelling with punk bands in the US and Europe, acquired his 1st camera from band member while traveling and documenting the road.

✍️ Lauren Kaigg is a British visual artist based in Bristol, who uses photography and moving image to re-examine the often-overlooked aspects of the everyday. Her work explores existential themes and feelings that stem from strangeness within experience, drawing inspiration from philosophy and psychology.
