💜 Employee Appreciation Dinner 💜

What a wonderful evening celebrating the people who make it all happen! We enjoyed a great night of good food, live music, and even better company at our Employee Appreciation Dinner. 🎶🍽️

A special thank you to our Board for their continued support and for helping make this evening possible. We are also so grateful to Uncle Payton’s for feeding us, Irby for supplying the drinks, and to the Hargett’s for graciously allowing us to use their Picklebarn for the evening!

And, of course, a huge thank you to The Backroad Truckers for providing the music and keeping us entertained all night! 🎸🎶

Most importantly, thank you to all of our employees and their families for your hard work, dedication, and the countless ways you help serve our community every day. We truly appreciate each and every one of you! ❤️

Here’s to a great team and an even better night of celebrating them! 🥂

100 years of Irby! I painted this mural a couple of months ago located on Irby Drive in downtown Jackson. This mural honors the history of Irby Utilities, its associates, and its parent company @soneparofficial. On the far left is the founder of Irby, Stuart C Irby. He is surrounded by different electrical products and components such as glass insulators that would have been used in the early 1900s. The middle and right of the mural honors Irby today with its nationwide distribution and services across the United States. This mural is also in dedication to @america250ms. Thank you Andy Waring and everyone involved who made this project happen!

Sonepar is proud to announce the 14 Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW posts who will be receiving free LED lighting upgrades this year through our Bright Lights Brighter Futures program!

Each year, we complete lighting retrofits for community nonprofits. In celebration of America’s 250th, all retrofits this year will be focused on VFW posts. Upgrading from outdated fluorescent lights to LED fixtures creates more welcoming spaces and reduces energy costs, allowing the VFW to reinvest more funds towards their mission of serving veterans and their families.

We greatly appreciate the partnership of Acuity Inc. and Cooper Lighting Solutions who will be donating the lighting fixtures and materials for these projects, and PSG Energy Services who will complete installation over the next couple of months. TerraCycle Regulated Waste will also help us reduce the environmental impact of the upgrades through recycling services for the old fixtures.

The nominated VFW posts are:

Walter N. Brownell VFW Post 3137 in Isle of Palms, SC via Capital Electric
VFW Post 7398 in Magna, UT via Codale Electric Supply
Clark-Moetz VFW Post 2319 in Milltown, NJ via Cooper electric

On Oct. 9, GRU’s Safety and Training team hosted the Safe & Sound Campus Jam, bringing employees together for a fun and educational day focused on safety. Participants learned safety fundamentals, explored new PPE innovations with on-site vendors and took part in hands-on activities that reinforced safe work practices.

The event featured live music from Kiss 105.3, prizes and plenty of food and drinks to keep the energy high! Events like this strengthen GRU’s culture of safety.

We also want to thank all the vendors who came out to support our event:

Our hearts break for the families and communities devastated by the flooding in Kerrville and surrounding areas. Sonepar and our operating companies in Texas (Crawford Electric Supply, Irby Utilities and Summit Electric Supply) are working closely with our customers and associates to support those impacted as well as collectively contributing a $50,000 donation to the The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country for local recovery efforts.

You can make an individual donation via the link in our bio.

It’s never enough, but we are holding these families in our hearts and minds.

I had the honor of keynoting Sonepar USA's AAPI Group launch event last week. Sonepar’s AAPI Board represents many subsidiaries, ethnicities, genders, and experiences. It was fun to weave in facts about Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) identity as well as some of Sonepar employee’s actual stories of finding career success and belonging. Sonepar highlighted their strong business partnerships by inviting Southwire Company's AAPI Board to share their experiences. Seeing two companies bring employees from across the country (and internationally) to attend this significant launch was heartwarming and energizing.

AANHPI people experience great joy, bring natural skills and talents (some influenced by our cultural heritages), but also face invisible barriers that aren’t fully understood by those around us. With a U.S. population of over 7%, it’s a stark reality that only 2% of educators, 1% of school principals, 2.5% of social workers, 1% of mental health therapists, 2.5% lawyers, and 4% of Fortune 400 Board seat holders are AANHPI. The AANHPI community is growing 3.5x faster than the average U.S. population growth, and will be 46 Million by 2060. We are the global majority who always have and always will make positive impact wherever we reside.
