Sunday, July 26th, I had the honor of performing with reggae/dancehall legend Lady G at SummerStage at Central Park as part of the Afro Latina Festival. For this gig, I called on The Genna Roots Band (one of NY’s premiere reggae outfits) and they delivered big time. I handled lazers, airhorns and samples, not much heavy lifting, but a lotta fun adding sauce to the stew!

Also a trip that the last time performed on this stage was exactly 12 years previously to the day, in 2014 when LargeUp & Federation Sound presented Chronixx, Jr Reid + Rice and Peas, complete with dance performances and a surprise dancehall beatbox set by the great Rahzel. The event was attended by Mick Jagger and spoke volumes for Jamaican music, something I’m immensely proud of to this day.

Big shouts to Lady G, Genna Roots, Irie Child, Amilcar (Afro Latino Fest organizer) and the awesome personnel SummerStage. Also a big shout to Gary Dean Clarke for the sharp images and great energy.

This wasn’t a trip it was Brotherhood in motion.
We moved together, talked through real life in between stops, and built in ways most men never get the chance to.
Black men choosing honesty, healing, and accountability.
This is bigger than fun. This is THE BROTHERHOOD! 🤝🏾
