México Rojo. Solo Show at La Línea.

First and foremost, I want to express my deep gratitude to Evan Kory, the gallery director, who provided this space for me to share my work. To my family and friends, who have supported me unconditionally.
The show concludes on November 7, 2024, so there are still a few days left to see it in person at La Línea! Thank you to everyone who came to the opening and shared with me what my work made them feel. That is the purpose of México Rojo: to spark conversations and awaken emotions that lead us to action.
México Rojo is a series I began developing in 2019, which took on greater urgency in 2020 as the pandemic amplified gender violence in Mexico. The cases of Ingrid Escamilla and Fátima Cecilia, which took place in February 2020, were a reminder of the inefficiency of the State and the public’s indifference to femicides. In the face of this reality, I felt the need to protest through paintings and three-dimensional objects that underscore the magnitude of these crimes and confront the viewer with the gravity of this crisis.
