Yet another throwback to our past edition with such moving musicians as Maya Fridman, Maarten Van Veen and DJ Isis.
Our local artists brought us closer to essence (see details of mural by @iskerka_tattoo, and of installation by @irisdevoogd )
And the space and ambience protected and guided our collective great work.

We are looking forward to a new year with more inspiration, insights and pure love for ritual and art.

Last year, the first Community Textiles event took place at Craft Central. A difficult time, with many complications (such as not being able to have more than a handful of visitors. This textile exhibition carried the theme of Restrictions in a practical way: only black and white textiles were allowed. Further emphasis was placed on the expression of restrictions, which each artist explored in their own way.

Looking back at 2020, unexpectedly eventful still! January trip to Odisha, India on the forest silk trail, taking part in the Globalisation of Khadi conference in Jaipur (organised by @khadilondon ), road trip visiting the weavers communities in Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya. Third edition of the Japanese Textiles and Craft Festival in London @craftcentraluk , including the Nagare Project in collaboration with @emiliesandy , birth of the Community_Textiles project at the Dunkirk Mills in Stroud. Restrictions Exhibition in September, @londoncraftweek @toast @toast_mayfair for a wonderful week of weaving in Central London. The forth edition of the Japanese Textiles and Craft Festival was an online streaming event in October and was organised by @romordesigns and myself. Full studio both days during @selectartspresents in the Stroud Studio. Another group exhibition in Highbury was organised by @moderneccentrics and lastly, The Techniques Shaping Japanese Textiles at the Japan Embassy London ran for three months and was a great success. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported FREEWEAVER Studio this year! Plans for next year include the “Roots” exhibition in January, Japanese Textiles and Craft Festival in February and London Craft Week with a special three day immersive weaving and tailoring workshop brought to you by @petitjardin.london and FREEWEAVER.

✨handknitted linen wallhanging✨ @irisdevoogd knitted this gorgeous linen cloth for me and i hung it on my wall on a rose branch. The colour is so hard to catch on photo, it reminds me of the colour of dune grass. Thank you @irisdevoogd for the lovely package you send me and for putting so much love and effort in this beautiful piece of art. #walldecoration #art #textileart #linenknitting #homedecoration #handmade #nature #dunegrass #linen #rosethorns #cloth #magical
