To the person that insisted that "cool jazz" is the "best" music to enjoy with wine, I would suggest this pairing, unless of course you don't like all things Canidae.....

Today was oddly full-circle. Chatted with a buddy in Boston and he quoted “Jesus packing my bong” — from Heaven Is a Halfpipe by OPM. Wild part? I actually knew one of those guys back in the day. Small world.

Later, my little sous chef took over the kitchen as we revisited what we made in Montreal — chicken korma. This time I added pomegranate seeds for that color pop. Definitely a repeat dish.

Mole verde on the menu tonight 🌿✨ Juicy chicken breast over rice and veggies, all tied together with that herby, nutty punch of green mole.

Couldn’t find pepitas anywhere (step it up @lantmans 👀), so I riffed with sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, and even radish tops 💡—and it worked. Pretty sure a bottle from @ironwolfwines would’ve paired very nicely with this plate too 🍷🔥.

Best part? Cameos from my two little sous chefs, crushing it on the molcajetes 🥑👩‍🍳👨‍🍳. Extra hands, extra giggles, extra flavor.

Family, food, and flavor—that’s the magic.

Went to my favorite spot for meat & seafood (@willistonmeatandfishmarket because HH6 had a plan for dinner and told me to grab some white fish. Everything in the case looked solid, but not knowing what she had in mind, I went with cod—neutral, versatile, can’t go wrong.

Well… minutes on the clock turned into slippery little buggers and time got away from her. Suddenly, it was my turn to step in—felt like I was on a cooking game show.

On hand: cod, tomatoes, couscous, onions, cilantro, radishes, and my helpful little hommie 👨‍🍳. What came out was vaguely Mediterranean but sitting on that couscous with the sauce I whipped together—it was 💯 delicious. Sautéed radishes on the side were a win too.

Full disclosure: I could use a little work on preserving the fish while cooking… and the plating? Let’s just say it would have earned me a one-way ticket to the unemployment line 😂. But flavor > presentation this round.

Cooking started with inspiration from a wine I hadn’t tried before. I had zero plans to pair red with white fish, but the more I sipped, the less I cared. It worked, surprisingly well. Smooth, super drinkable, and played nice with the dish.

Sometimes the best meals happen when you don’t overthink. 🍷🐟✨

Want me to also draft a shorter, punchier version (like for Reels with a hook) in case you want to share it as video content too?

If it weren’t for @ironwolfwine’s post about Kitchen Table, we’d still be driving right past it on our way to the highway. Tiny sign, unassuming entrance—we always thought it was just a brunch place… but nope, it’s so much more! 🍷✨

A short drive from home (with a few fun twists and turns down unpaved roads), and suddenly—you’re here. Great service, fantastic food, a killer wine list, desserts that don’t quit, and a setting that’s beautiful inside and out. 🌿🍴

First visit here, definitely not the last. 🙌
Also… yes, I poutine-d this in my tummy. 🥔🧀🍗 (Shoutout if you caught the reference 👀)

NEW GIN!
Finally! I’ve had my eye on this since I tasted it on the flight to Scotland (great gin selection @icelandair). I would call this Icelandic Dry style: juniper leads, but softly, followed by bright citrus and a subtle, but lasting herbaceous finish, courtesy of native arctic thyme, birch, and mountain moss. Makes a fabulous gin tonic. $32.99
