MNGR DREW GLOBAL NETWORK | PLAYER FEATURE

Introducing Iron Talia, a tackle busting midfielder and standout talent in the QPR Premier Women’s competition, representing Sunnybank Rugby.

Iron is the first player featured under the MNGR DREW Global Network, a growing global talent pool created to identify emerging amateur athletes and connect them with clubs, competition, and opportunities around the world.

The goal is simple: create a pathway for talented athletes from the amateur game towards professional opportunities.

I’m proud to represent Iron and help push her talent to the next phase of her career.

Once players reach the professional level, they will transition across to the GinnenGroup Sports team for professional representation and management.

Amateur talent. Global opportunities. Professional pathways.🌏

From Victorian Youth Girls to the international stage.

Harmony, Iron, and Tyra earned starting jerseys for @manusina_swr in their match against Tonga yesterday, while Marilyn and Taheela brought impact from the bench.

Five athletes, all shaped through Victorian representative pathways.

And leading the side HER Rugby Academy Co-Founder @sileietuale as Head Coach.

Samoa came away with the win, 50-5.

Proof that talent, leadership, and opportunity continue to grow here in Victoria.

We couldn’t be prouder.

From school tournaments in New Zealand to captaining Victoria and becoming the highest try scorer, highest point scorer, and Player of the Year all by 22: Iron’s journey is built on belonging, belief, and being herself.

“I didn’t think rugby was anything more than fun… until I moved to Australia and found a deeper sense of belonging. Rugby let me be myself, that’s when I fell in love with it.”

Coming through the Victorian system shaped her early years, but stepping into leadership shaped her as a person.
“Leadership is being an example. Being optimistic even when there’s nothing to be optimistic about, bringing the team up when they’re feeling down.”

Her leadership style?
“I always turn serious things into something funny. That’s who I am and I want my girls to have fun.”

Iron didn’t see herself as a captain at first but,
“Leading gave me confidence I hadn’t seen in myself before. That’s credit to the coaches who trusted me, and the girls who believed in me.”

This year, she led her club to reclaim the Lindroth Cup:
“Winning it back meant everything. It’s our third premiership in four years, a statement in itself.”

And through all the pressure and expectation, her message to young girls in Victoria is simple:
“You are capable of anything you set your mind to. If something sets you back, seek support, even through HER Rugby Academy.”

For Iron, HER Rugby Academy is more than a program:
“It’s an opportunity to grow the game here in Vic. A chance for girls to be recognised without having to leave home.”

Passion. Challenging. Rewarding.
That’s Iron’s journey so far and she’s only just getting started. 💫

This is HERstory.
