Some nights are more than dinner, they’re an experience. Tonight at @shelter.pererenan we learnt the art of cooking over fire with guest chef @charly_terrafirmadining_ tasted mahi mahi slow cooked for 2.5 hours, and had an actual real marshmallow toasted over flame, not the packet kind. Honestly couldn’t pick a favourite dish, but even better than the food was the company and the atmosphere. @stevesumoore has done it again. If you haven’t been yet, get across it. There’s another event this Saturday with a special guest chef and if you’re into food, it’s a must.

T H E S N A K E I S D Y I N G 🔥 I was sooo resisting the “new year” in January... “the 12 month calendar was created by Romans in order to strategise war and manipulate finances bla bla bla…” I mean, it is true... We’re not energetically in new year until the Equinox in March. The Balinese New Year also falls with the Equinox, Mother Nature's calendar. But life has been life-ing and this past week has been FULL on new year energy for me. Whether I like it or not. Lots of shedding of the old. Lots of space for new. I can’t fully step into it yet, but I can sense it. The space. I see you. A brand new client had me nurturing them through how we’re going to work together. At the same time potential new creative projects with friends are coming in hot. I’m trying to project the next few months and what I can and can’t.. (or want/don’t want to do. I returned to my yoga practice after 3 months off, with two classes back to back. I packed in physical therapy, ontological coaching and energy work, because, you know… Lauren. In my coaching session we tapped into something I’d been unconsciously holding onto for a decade and started to move it. What the actual helllll Lauren. If this is the energy coming in, with my own natural steam train inability to slow the F down, it’s time to prove to myself that I can do it. I can move with power, and not have it drain me. I can rest on the ride, I'm standing in front of the controls of this steam train. I’ve been in training for nearly 4 years. And now I got it. New clients, new connections, a bubbling of something romantic that came out of nowhere. It’s like an apple tree just exploded with fruit and I’m trying to choose the juiciest apples. So much energy coming in from all directions. So I burned some things. I danced. I screamed. I reclaimed the vessel. Here you go 2026, I’ll put a stick in some resolutions and state them in this sacred space of the IG feed. Or maybe these are rules for me to navigate the final month of resistance, the relinquishing dying exit screams of the year of the Snake? Let’s go to the Chinese calendar now just for fun! I like this better... Time to die, snake. cont. in comments.

The year I turned away from romantic attachments completely brought me the most insane ride or die friendships of my life. 38 kicked off with a breakup, followed by a breakdown, then the rebuild... And damn it was a good rebuild. So much love, roadtrips, food trips, dinners, island hops, long walks, cries, laughs, cooks, we made a pub quiz team and we nearly came first once. I starred creating again, just for me, and not only in service of making money. I paint really psychedelic black holes with rainbow cyclones around them now. They're weird and not very good and you'll probably receive one as a birthday gift. I trained with Tao Master Mantak Chia in North Thailand for a week and depended my knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine. I ate sushi and went thrift shopping in TOKYO! I climbed an active volcano. I think I've figured out what supplements my body actually loves and what I don't need to spend money on, amen! Life was not merely life-ing, it LIFED. We spent my birthday at one of my favourite restaurants with a few throwaway kodak cameras, and as it turns out... When my photo memories are limited to 39 snaps, not one picture of food made the cut.

Having the right friends is one of life’s greatest gifts. The ones who lift you up, remind you who you are, stand by you when everything feels heavy, and celebrate every step forward with you. I’m grateful for the true friends who’ve been with me through everything, and for the new friends who’ve joined me along the journey — each one adding light, love, and strength to my life. 💛✨ Here’s to the ones who make us feel at home, no matter where we are. Today, I’m taking a moment to stand still and be truly grateful.
