Intent = Effort

If you don’t why why you’re doing what you’re doing, there is likely no intent and no effort. When it comes to having goals as an athlete actually wanting to improve, there should always be intent behind everything we do, from warm ups to cool down.

Any of the exercises above could be just another rep or task to check off on a card.
But it’s the intent, the effort, to be explosive with weight, the intent to hit that new heavy PR, the intent to sprint your absolute hardest, to really compete, that makes it worthwhile as an athlete.

In strength training, the Concentric phase of movement is vital for athleticism as all athletes must be explosive and have “drive” in some capacity. The ability to recruit and then use fast-twitch muscle fibers must have a purpose and intent behind them. Intent is also CLOSELY related to effort.
Putting the most into every movement and knowing that training is preparing you for sport and life

Training this way:
✅ maximizes intermuscular coordination
✅ increases motor unit recruitment
✅ increases the body’s ability to produce force (accelerate, “be explosive”)
✅ allows the body to adapt and reduce likeliness of injury in high-stress and fast moving motions seen in sports
✅ makes you tough as nails 💪🏼
