'Good design minds are always, fundamentally, surprising,' says @rodmanprimack, who returns as curator for this year's Designers of Tomorrow at Design Miami Paris. 'It’s why we need them: not for the mundane - to find the most efficient choice - but to offer an idea that deviates from the standard.'

Led by @apple in collaboration with @designmiami Paris, the showcase brings together four emerging design practices from around the world to create original works around a theme. This year's topic, Design for Presence, seems particularly pertinent in the era of the attention economy.

Displayed across a panelled room in Paris’ Hôtel de Maisons, the thoughtful, highly crafted objects reflect this theme, inviting us to slow our pace – to bask in the soft glow of a lantern by Egyptian-Danish architect Salem S. Charabi [@salemcharabi] listen to the ceramic beaded fringe on Brooklyn-based designer @isabel_rower's chair, marvel at the intricacy of Seoul-based artist @yoonjeonglee_studio’s table and lamp, or share a moment of connection within Mexican design studio @Parafernal.ia's expandable seating area.

Primack – a designer, curator, former creative director of Design Miami and co-founder of Mexico City gallery AGO Projects – sees a common desire to make something meaningful, despite the four studios’ ‘fundamentally different’ approaches, materials and local contexts.

For the second year, Apple and Design Miami come together to spotlight the next generation of design talent through Designers of Tomorrow.

This year, four emerging designers explore Design for Presence — creating new works that invite us to slow down, connect, and pay closer attention to the world around us:
