This winter, with support from the University of Edinburgh Community Grants, we’re partnering with Edinburgh Remakery to deliver a series of five progressive paper art sessions. Artist Isabell Buenz will start by guiding participants in creating their own personal journals. Each subsequent session will explore a different art form, including Zentangle and Mandalas, Japanese Notan, pop-up cards and mixed-media collage. Participants are expected to attend all five sessions as a group. All eco-friendly materials and tools will be provided, and no previous experience is required 🍄

Date: 5, 12 and 19 November; 3 and 10 December 2026 (Thursdays)
Time: 10:00-13:00 (1st Session); 10:00-12:30 (2nd - 5th Session)

Here are my book artist selections for the #areyoubookenough_color, finally. I'm a little behind but it takes time to go through all the wonderful works of art and pair it down to just nine. Thanks to the lovely team at @areyoubookenough (Lisa, Di & Sarah) for your continued dedication to book art and the book artists of the community.

Here is my selection for the October theme “Round and Round.” Choosing just nine books is always very difficult — I try to feature new artists each month. Congratulations to all the talented participants we love to discover every month with their original and unexpected creations!
Thank you all for your support and encouragement, and a special thanks to Di, Sarah, and Lisa for this demanding and creative challenge.

My chosen nine for October's book challenge #areyoubookenough_roundandround
#areyoubookenough
All entries were great, so it was very hard to limit them to 9. In the end, I chose a mix of a few subtle and delicate ones against some who are more graphic or colourful.

Continuous Loops

This artist’s book is inspired by the Griswold circular knitting machines displayed at the @fwkmuseum once used in homes and small workshops to produce socks and hosiery. Henry Griswold’s 1878 innovation, the revolving cam-box with latch needles, made the machines easier to use and capable of creating stronger, more consistent fabrics.

Held open in a circle with magnets, the book echoes the motion of the knitting frame in action. Interlocking paper loops and Ruddington’s distinctive diamond pattern reference the textures of the knitted fabric, while the continuous circular form captures the rhythm and repetition of frame knitting.

Created as part of the Notts Book Arts Swap 2025, I made two versions, one for @isabellbuenz and one for my solo exhibition Through the Frame, currently on display at the Framework Knitters Museum, Ruddington, until 13th November.

Late posting...Apologies.
And now my layout app seems to have a glitch so my favourite nine for September in no order but individually posted.
What a sensory month it was where we all should've been around a large table drinking tea or coffee and eating lavender or chocolate biscuits....and passing around our contributions to sniff or chew or listen to or just experience.

Each image is tagged. Please check out the contributors to find out more about their posts.

Well done to everyone who contributed. The sensory offerings were all quite remarkable.
