This is the final week to see Isabelle du Toit's "Vivarium" and Sherry Owens' "ensouled" at Cris Worley Fine Arts!

Isabelle du Toit's paintings reflect on those outside of the human experience, with the isolated backgrounds echoing the enclosed viewing spaces referenced in the show's title. The dark and bare settings highlight the rich colors and extraordinary detail employed by du Toit, teetering between vitality and fragility. As a result, "Vivarium" questions our tendency to distinguish our lives as separate from those around us, emphasizing belonging over exclusion.

In "ensouled," Sherry Owens transfigures the natural world into something new—something with feeling, memory, and spirit. Her work is defined by an intuitive, disciplined practice that incorporates crepe myrtle, bronze, printmaking, and bamboo. The sculptures and prints are emblematic of the balance between growth and decay, taking them both in equal measure for her process.

"Vivarium" and "ensouled" are on view until Saturday, October 24th. Please come and see these fantastic shows before they close!

We look forward to seeing you, please DM us for pricing and availability.

EXHIBTION FEATURE:

Isabelle du Toit
Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow), 2026
oil on canvas
30 x 40 in.

Isabelle du Toit's painting lovingly celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing its diversity through vibrant coloring and attentive detail. Based on Tanager and Bunting birds, each one highlights the unique ecology of the Americas. Despite the scarcity hinted from the bare branch, du Toit's birds rest together, lauding kinship and perseverance. With focused precision, Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow) is a prime example of du Toit's mastery of color, prompting consideration of our experience with the natural world.

Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow) is currently on view as part of Isabelle du Toit's exhibition, "Vivarium," through October 24th. Please DM us for pricing information and availability!

Please enjoy this preview of Isabelle du Toit's latest exhibition, "Vivarium."

In "Vivarium," du Toit invites viewers to consider the relationship we have with those outside of the human experience. The show's title references the enclosed spaces designed to sustain living creatures, and her paintings reveal extraordinary renderings of animals in states of isolation.

"Vivarium" will open this Thursday, September 10th, with an opening reception from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Please join us in celebrating the exhibition and the artist behind it.

Dm for an exhibition preview.

Join us THURSDAY, September 10, from 5–7 PM for the opening of two new exhibitions at Cris Worley Fine Arts:

ISABELLE DU TOIT: Vivarium
September 10–October 24

In Vivarium, Isabelle du Toit continues her exploration of belonging, displacement, and the fragile relationship between humans and the natural world. Using wildlife and the recurring image of the broken branch, her work considers the ways we seek shelter, protection, and a sense of home.

&

SHERRY OWENS: ensouled
September 10–October 24

Sherry Owens creates intricate sculptures from individually gathered and assembled sticks, transforming humble natural materials through an intensely physical and intuitive process. In ensouled, repetition, labor, and organic form come together in sculptures that balance careful construction with a sense of natural ease.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating both exhibitions and the artists behind them.

Please note this opening reception is on a Thursday. September 10 | 5–7 PM

Tomorrow is your last chance to see the scrumptious details of Isabelle du Toit’s paintings in person. Working with the smallest brush on the market allows du Toit to render the finest of tiny markings which bring life and character into her animals. Check out the shadow of that ant!
