Very nice to visit the opening of Art & Bali definitely an art fair worth visiting.

A highlight for us was “What the Body Remembers,” curated by Bandana Tewari, who did an amazing job creating an inspiring dialogue between art, fashion, craft and the body. A beautiful presentation showing how these different creative worlds can overlap and strengthen each other.

And, as always, an art fair is also about the people. Great to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, meet inspiring people and discover some very good artists along the way.

Congratulations to everyone involved and especially Bandana for creating something that really stood out.

Something very special is taking shape…

Isabelle and I had the chance to get a first look at the incredible new works by Inge Cornil.

She is currently developing a completely new series, working with natural materials, pigments, indigo and beautifully tactile, organic processes. The textures, colours, scale and sheer physical presence of these pieces are difficult to capture in a photograph.

These works seriously blow your mind raw, sophisticated, unexpected and absolutely beautiful.

We can’t share too much just yet… but soon, much more. 👀

A big thank you to the Sun Contemporary team, led by Ricky Lee Gordon, together with Gary, Kelly & Sam Bencheghib of Sungai Watch, and all the incredible artists involved, for hosting such a great evening. 🙏🌊🌿

An evening not only about art, but about creating awareness for the important work of Sungai Watch cleaning rivers, protecting nature and inspiring change in Bali and far beyond.

Taking small steps can become a big leap over time.

Hopefully, more and more people around the world will realise that our responsibility as humans is actually very simple:

Leave nothing behind in nature but a footprint.
And maybe, one day, not even that. 🌏

Art can inspire. Awareness can change behaviour. And together, small actions can create a much bigger movement.

Little Guru Card deck is in Bali. 🌴❤️

And that honestly makes me so happy.

Little Guru Card Deck is being used in a Women’s Light Circle in Bali.

I love the thought of these cards travelling all the way from the Netherlands to Bali, and becoming part of a circle where women take time to connect with themselves.

Little Guru is about the mirroring and systemic messages our children can bring into our lives.

Sometimes a behaviour, an emotion or a reaction touches something in us.
Something old. Something we carry. Something that still wants to be seen.

The message of your child to you, and a gentle message to your inner child. ❤️

Not to judge ourselves as parents, but to become curious.
Because sometimes our children show us something that can help us grow.
And when we do our own inner work, we give our children more space to simply be children.

That is what Little Guru means to me.
A little deck with a big message. ❤️

In this series of works (sHe) I was investigating the role of women in different cultures and societies. In this work - sHE#5 Europe - we see a beautiful woman, calm and confident, wearing expensive clothes, carrying designer shoes in her hands - she doesn’t wear them but she’s got them. She is walking through the world full of wonders and possibilities. But she walks alone…
The moving image is laid on the steady rigid shape of a suit, that symbolizes male-driven world. In accordance to this reality She has to wear such suit to achieve her goals - to find comfort in independence. Because she walks alone…
She’s got it all. But there is no one to share it with…
Is this the way to happiness? Or to disruption? Is she comfortable or lonely? On long term, will it work for her or against? And will it be functional or disfunctional for Europe?

Turning 50 feels like a meaningful moment to reflect and above all, to feel deeply grateful.

I’m very happy to be here, alive and kicking, especially when I think back to my kidney cancer surgery in 2014. Life has a way of sharpening what truly matters.

I feel incredibly proud of the family we’ve created. Two beautiful, creative, intelligent children with a great sense of humor that, to me, is true wealth.

I’m equally grateful that we took the leap and moved overseas, embracing a new adventure. It’s already opening doors to inspiring opportunities, working alongside remarkable artists, colleagues, collectors, and curators across Asia. There is much more to come.

Turning 50 feels good. It brings clarity, appreciation, and a genuine sense of happiness with where life stands today.

Of course, I miss celebrating together with my mom, Jade, and the rest of the family and friends but we will make up for that soon.

Jade, I love you.

Thank you Isabelle and Bruno for sharing this adventurous path, for being in my life, and for enriching it every single day.

And thank you to everyone for the kind messages, birthday wishes, and for celebrating with me.

Fun dinner with Puk and Pleun, who just came back from a cool trip to Australia. I love it when these kids travel around the world, gaining life experience, learn about different cultures, habits, nature, food etc. Happy to hear all the stories and experiences! Kids, go into the world, work smart, travel as much as you can!

Slinat: Rewriting Bali’s image.

Slinat (Silly in Art) deconstructs Dutch colonial photographs to reveal what tourism left unseen:
– environmental fragility
– cultural tension
– social inequality

Rooted in traditional Sigar Mangsi charcoal technique, his works bridge ritual and resistance.

Last evening shared with @jackie.bavinck and the first evening together with @mmmburr and @pukburgerhof, enjoying an excellent dinner at Hujan Local in Ubud. A special moment in an inspiring setting, marked by meaningful conversations and refined local cuisine. It was a pleasure to reconnect with an old friend, and although Jackie’s stay was far too short, it was truly valuable to spend this time together in Bali.
