Had the honour of delivering the feature address at my alma mater’s Class of ‘24 Graduation Ceremony. My initial response was, “Me?”. I didn't feel qualified. Yes, I've spoken at schools (inspirational/motivational) including my alma mater, I've performed at schools, I'm currently a MYDNS 40 Under 40 Influencer visiting schools to mentor but, graduation? Feature address? That’s supposed to be a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, ent? I really didn't feel qualified. The theme was “Success Against All Odds”. I shared my personal life experiences and mantras, and of course sprinkled in some comedy and the response has been overwhelming. Really crazy full circle moment. Having teachers, parents, and students meeting me after and repeating my personal mantras back to me like “Breathe on Purpose” and “Use what you DO have, to do what you can.” was truly humbling. Thank you Diego Martin Central Secondary for having me. And huge congratulations to the graduating class. As I always say, "One day life will pass you the mic, and when it does, you better have something to say". (Ah have plenty mantras bai. Should write ah book 😅) 🙏🏾
