POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The last fishing trip of the season put a nice bow to my summer endeavors. I had a goal of trying to catch a salmon larger then a grilse and managed to get two. The journey has been challenging with so many days without any action but that’s how it seems to be. I enjoy learning this form of fishing so much. The bad casts, the flies in the bushes on the other side of the river and slammed hooks in the rocks behind me are all a part part of the process. This hen was 87cm, full of roe and happy to swim back to get ready to spawn. I managed to catch a sea grout and a sea char too completing the trio of available species which was an added bonus.

Sea trout fishing turned out to be a perfect way to get an earlier start to the fishing season. I didn't think a little fly in a sea could garner so much action. I honestly was quite concerned I couldn't cast far enough but it worked out and I managed to land a 64cm/2.4kg beauty.

When summer is getting hot, and the rivers are warm, then the highlands are a perfect choice.
Tomorrow we’ll go north again, and prehaps find some bigger fish this time🤞
