If you told me a year ago that I would be dancing again and become a national champ, I wouldn’t believe you.

I had stopped dancing after graduating high school, but when I heard through a friend that FIU was starting a dance team, I knew it was a good opportunity to dance again, however 2 days before tryouts I had lost my grandmother. Thankfully, @angiemanduley had reached out to me after seeing me at the prep class and talked to me about joining the team. We had 4 months to pull together 2 routines in time for Nationals. I couldn’t be more thankful for all the girls on this team as I left my heart on the competitive stage for the very last time.

A huge thank you to my family and specifically my parents, who always knew since I was little that I was going to be a dancer and supported me at every performance.

And most importantly to Mamang and Papang, my angels in heaven who’ve picked me up and dropped me off to every practice. The two people I’d be the first to show my dances to when I came home. Who at every party always forced me to perform for their friends and family and were so very proud. A lot of lasts coming soon and I owe it to the two of you.
