Turning Light | Part II
Transition into Stillness ✨

Last week, we installed Turning Light Part II at Restaurant Isca, Borde Hill, featuring artists Bella Easton, Katherine Jones RA and Eleanor May Watson.

In this second iteration, Transition into Stillness, the focus has shifted from the exuberant rhythms and washed out hues of summer towards a deeper, contemplative, quiet side of the year.

Cloaked in golden September sunshine spilling in through the magnificent glasshouse at Isca, the rich tones and layering of paint and print anticipate the coming of longer nights and autumn gatherings.

We will focus on each of the three exhibiting artists in the coming weeks. Please visit the link in bio to see all the artwork in the exhibition and to find out more about dining at Isca.

🤗Three months print editioning. Over 500 individually hand-painted woodcuts. Altogether a pattern field of 28.8 m² 😅💫💫💫

It has been a fairly intense process — blood, sweat and tears at times — but I’ve finally come through the editioning stage of Echo Chamber & The Seeds of the Narcissi.

Seeing them all laid out together feels quite extraordinary after months of working on them individually.

And now the next phase begins: trimming, splicing, layering and intercutting — bringing all of these separate printed elements together to complete the full edition.

Each final artwork contains fragments from 80 of these individual prints, assembled into layered intercut compositions.

A huge thank you to the Summer Exhibition team @royalacademyarts for enabling such a positive response to the work through exhibiting Echo Chamber & The Seeds of the Narcissi I in gallery 1 curated by @katherinejones_pp It has marked an important junction in my career, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Echo IV from the series is currently on view as part of the @tbwdrawingprize, selected by @anitataylor_ @matthewburrowsstudio @slee.whitworth with others soon to be shown with @the_violet_hour_ @iscabordehill

Eventually, each piece will leave the studio and begin its next life in its respective new home.

For now, though, a moment to take in what three months of printing looks like.
