📺🛋️ Da’Partment is BACK for Season 3 — and we’re dropping new episodes every Wednesday on YouTube (IIICONic TV).
Filmed straight out our Bed-Stuy living room, Da’Partment is the coziest cultural hub on the internet—where real ones link up, stories get told, incense gets lit, and the room stays full of creative energy. Hosted by Tashiii Tsunamiii & Rar3 Cod33, this isn’t just a talk show… it’s a whole vibe✨

I feel a lot more like myself when I’m able to connect to the people that care about me. And I can’t thank everyone enough for that.

I always start portraits believing I know what makes my friends beautiful. I map out the movement with gestural lines and vague shapes. I’m approximate in my knowledge and simply mark what first occurs to me when viewing the reference photo.

After I scribble the spirit of the drawings orientation, I begin to break down the shapes I created. I sculpt and negotiate with the features trying to let go of my assumptions about their face. I think “this must go here” and then nudge that in any direction. As I lay things down I remind myself to keep alignment with my original energy, not getting too precious with any one feature.

My understanding will come after the process of looking and asking.

This year has been a profound journey of self-discovery, teaching me about inner acceptance and embracing the unknown. Creating this short film was an emotional yet deeply fulfilling experience because so much of its message resonates with me.

“This film was made to remind us that there’s no one ‘right’ way to be. It explores the idea that two truths can coexist, and sometimes it takes others to help us accept that. Through flashbacks, Iziah reflects on the challenges he has faced and where he stands now, questioning whether it’s moments of connection or sheer perseverance that make struggles bearable. Meanwhile, Tai wrestles with how to present themselves authentically to the world. In the LGBTQ+ community, it can be especially challenging to navigate the fluidity between masculine and feminine expression without feeling confined to a box. Ro becomes a source of support, helping Tai embrace every aspect of their identity. Iziah and Tai’s paths cross on the rainbow, symbolizing that everyone is fighting battles others may never see, but there is hope and growth on the other side if we’re brave enough to confront our doubts.”

I created this film in February, initially feeling too nervous and vulnerable to share it. But over time, I found the courage to embrace my creativity and share it with the world, and I hope it inspires you to do the same.

Thank you for watching, and Happy New Year!

✨Chosen Family✨

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have these amazing people in my life—some for over 13 years and others for a shorter time—but each one represents a genuine connection. They’ve supported me in my darkest times and inspired me to reach my fullest potential.

This year, I attended two Pride events for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience! I didn’t make it to Atlanta’s event this year because, honestly, BABY, I was tired and low on funds (Pride is EXPENSIVE)! 😂 For those who don’t know, I finally came out to all the important people in my life at the end of Pride Month in NYC. What took me so long? I still can’t pinpoint it but fear likely played a role. The response was overwhelmingly supportive: “What took you so long? We already knew; we just waited for you to say it.” 🤷🏽‍♂️

In honor of National Coming Out Day and Spirit Day earlier this month, let me reintroduce myself: Hey y’all, I’m Ameen, a PROUD BLACK and GAY man, and I’m here to give you LIFE. In that MF’n order! 👏🏽🏳️‍🌈
