Two years since we opened our doors to this community.

To still be here, two years later, as an independent brick-and-mortar restaurant… I don’t take that for granted. It is truly no small feat. Every bit of the glory belongs to God.

Thank you to my family, my friends, our team, and this incredible community that has chosen to believe in what we’re building at 13 SUNS.

To everyone who trusted me long before we opened our doors. The ones who gave me opportunities, guidance, encouragement, prayers, and reminded me to keep going when I couldn’t always see what was ahead… thank you. You helped build this long before there were walls.

My mother. My heart. My light. Thank you for believing in me before I believed in myself.

My brothers. Thank you for protecting this sacred space we’ve created together and continuing to pour into it every single day.

This journey has humbled me more than I can put into words. God knows I’m far from perfect. These last two years have stretched me, tested me, broken me at times, and rebuilt me. There have been moments of overwhelming joy, and moments where the stress, uncertainty, and weight of it all brought me to tears.

But every obstacle has reminded me why I started.

To create something bigger than myself.
A place where people feel seen.
A place where culture, food, music, wellness, and community come together.
A place that feels like home.

To anyone chasing a dream that feels impossible right now…

Keep going.

The hard days don’t last forever. The sacrifices matter. Stay faithful. Stay present. Trust God’s timing, even when you can’t understand it.

Thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, shared a meal, told a friend, left a review, attended an event, or simply believed in us.

You’re part of this story.

Here’s to two years of purpose, growth, resilience, and community.

2024 was one of the most challenging years of my life. Four years ago, I had a dream, a vision of bringing Ethiopian cuisine to the forefront. I remember messaging my siblings, telling them about this concept, a café that would stand as the first of its kind, truly representing the culture and the community.

For four years, I poured myself into shaping this vision, building awareness, learning from friends and mentors, and preparing for the opportunity I prayed for. This year, that opportunity came, but it wasn’t without its trials. God gave me the chance to build my dream café, but He also put me through one of the toughest tests of my life.

2024 taught me patience. It taught me how to lead and communicate better. It brought me closer to people who selflessly showed up for me, sometimes without me even needing to ask. Those people kept me going in moments when I felt like breaking.

There’s so much that couldn’t fit into this reel, but just know this, what you see here is only a glimpse of the journey. This project has been built with love, resilience, and the support of a community I am endlessly grateful for.

To anyone with a vision in their heart, let this be your reminder. It’s only crazy until it’s done. Stay committed, stay patient, and believe in what you’re building, no matter how impossible it seems. Your dream is waiting on you to see it through.
