Bringing Local Grassroots Mountain Bike Racing To All

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This one’s been sitting in the drafts for a bit.

The kids and I made a few commitments this year.

Mine was to document more of our lives at the request of my family. Harder than I thought because I would way rather be in the moment, but looking back now, I am so glad I did. It’s pretty cool to see the progression.

The kids committed to racing the whole Island Cup series, and they did! (Minus Sooke for Lux.)

Lux tackled some pretty scary for her trails this year, learning to push herself while also trusting her gut.

Dec has been riding for years, but this past year he put the work in. If there was a most improved rider award, it would be his. The growth in his skills and confidence has been so cool to watch.

I have had a few comments about my new “Insta career” haha, but this whole putting myself out there and being vulnerable thing has actually been pretty great. Sharing our lives has helped us build an awesome community and make some lifelong friends. There is a lot of value in the cringe.

Last weekend I completed my goal of racing every enduro in the @islandcupseries and I’m so excited to share that I finished second overall in Elite Women! 🥈

A huge thank you to @comoxvalleytoyota for supporting my first race season. It’s been a pleasure representing a business that does a ton for local grassroots mountain biking, and I can’t say enough great things about the team there. Travelling to races and camping out of the Tundra was such a treat, and I’m grateful for their support!

My favourite part was getting to ride in new places, meet so many wonderful people and make amazing new friends along the way. Couldn’t have asked for a better first season and it’s safe to say I’m hooked! Lots to work toward and some exciting plans already taking shape for 2027.

Well, thats it for the 2026 Island cup. I had a blast riding with old friends and new ones! Can’t wait for next year, hopefully we’ll have another great Sooke team!

Finally able to upload some of the final Island Cup pre-ride! I think I rode better during the pre-ride on the e-bike than I did during the race!

Final race of the season! The Cumberland Enduro was such a great way to wrap up the @islandcupseries. All the pedalling during stages made this one a tough race for me, but I was happy to finish in 4th place.

What a beautiful trail network and lovely community. Can’t wait to come back and explore some more!

Still trying to wrap my head around this one 🥹

Today was the last race of the @islandcupseries here at home in Cumberland. Not only did I get to stand on the top step for the first time ever in this series for today's race, but also ended up P1 in elite women for the whole Island Cup series! 🤯

After blowing up my knee in Feb (again lol), I never thought I'd be here - especially with virtually zero racing experience and zero coaching. But this grassroots racing scene has been the absolute highlight of my summer. The community is truly unparalleled!! From the fellow racers to the volunteers to the clubs that host these events, there is no experience quite like it.

And deepest thank you to my little community of homies who never fail to gas a girl up with hype, love, and support both on race day and beyond ❤️ ❤️

So stoked to share this special podium with @johannaroddan 🥈 and @madipetrafrost 🥉

Finally a shout out to my bike shop @mountaincitycycles for dealing with a summer of me popping by with the ol "uhhh so I have a race tomorrow and my bike needs a doctor" and always keep me rolling (and braking) on race day.

(sorry for the extra long post but this might be the coolest thing I have ever done and ever will do. k I'm done now thx bye.)

And that’s a wrap on another Island Cup Enduro season!

A huge THANK YOU to the entire Island Cup crew, all the organizers, volunteers, and every club who hosted a race and made this series happen. These events take an army behind the scenes, and we’re so grateful for all the time, energy, and heart that was put into them.

And to everyone who repped Sooke throughout the season, racers and supporters, we’re so proud of you! 🖤 Sooke showed up and sent it! So many good times, big efforts, podiums, crashes, laughs and memories. It has been a fantastic first season together as the Sooke Bike Club Race Team. 🏁

Favourite stage from the final @islandcupseries enduro in Cumberland yesterday. Fast, intuitive singletrack with plenty of natural little drops! Find it on @trailforks

Congrats Madi on your P3 OVERALL finish.
You have those little U12 eyeballs watching you and loving you no matter what place or time.

Pretty cool thing for these girls to grow up watching.
