It is with a heavy heart that I reluctantly say goodbye to our amazing Six Senses Family 💜

I take away so many magical memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life, from seeing our first whale shark in Six Senses Yao Noi, paragliding at Six Senses Zighy Bay, learning how to ski at Six Senses Residences Courchevel, completing my first triathlon at Six Senses Ibiza, swimming with sharks at Six Senses Kanuhura to most recently witnessing an incredible turtle hatching event on our LAST NIGHT outside of our room at Six Senses Laamu, it truly feels like the stars have aligned for the ending to my Six Senses chapter.

Life definitely begins when you push yourself out of your comfort zone and always go with the choice that scares you the most - although I will not be doing another triathlon any time soon.

There are simply way too many people to mention, however a special thanks to our marketing team, which has allowed us to get the best social media results within the luxury hospitality industry over the last 3 years. Comment below LUXURY to learn more about our results and how we did this.

Perform365 tip ➕

Accentuated eccentrics 2/1 method can be a useful tool to provide a sufficient overload stimulus to the calf’s, this variation worked pretty well during lockdown with minimal equipment.

If we’re looking to bias the gastrocnemius we tend to use the leg press or smyth machine to get some real load through it, though the 2/1 method can also serve us well as seen in the video.

We bias both gastrocnemius and soleus with our guys. Anatomically the Soleus is targeted through knee flexion (Bent knee) and it only crosses the ankle joint whereas the gastroc crosses both the knee and ankle joint.

Targeting the calf’s are often prescribed in a reactive rehab approach coming back from tendinopathies and muscle strains, but they have served us well in our programming to improve performance through building sufficient tolerance and force absorption capabilities when we transition between iso & eccentric loading/absorption and concentric force generating actions.

This can lead to a reduction in ground contact times - A real world example - A boxer stepping back out of range and coming back in with a rapid counterpunch, if they don’t have sufficient stiffness and tolerance upon landing they won’t be able to transfer energy back the way it came in the time required to land on their opponent.

We go high reps, heavy and work through longer isometrics at specific times throughout camp/training journey.

Our calf protocol has been heavily influenced by the guys @chhplondon

Moving away from general to more of a specific model. ⁣
⁣
We look to emphasis speed/strength qualities whilst maintaining strength/speed characteristics and all exercise are executed with maximum intent.⁣
⁣
‘Optimal taper strategy is two weeks in duration and consists of exponentially reducing the volume of training by 41-61%, whilst maintaining both the intensity & frequency of sessions’. (Bosquet et al 2007)
