Millennium Fellowship Final Training Session 6 🥳

On the 19th of November, LASUCOM Millennium Fellows from Cohort B converged for the sixth and final training session.

The session opened with a welcome address from our campus directors, reflecting on our journey so far through the Fellowship. Fellows shared one word to describe their experience, setting an introspective tone for our last session together.

We explored "Stories of Change" — case studies of individuals who have driven significant social impact both globally and locally. From Wangari Maathai’s Green Belt Movement to several youth-led initiatives all over the world, we discussed the strategies they used, challenges they faced, and key lessons we could apply to our own projects.

The next segment focused on "Interviews". We covered the reasons for interviews in project work, grant applications, and career growth. Then we moved to interview basics: preparation, research, and professional communication. To help us ace them, campus directors introduced the STAR model — Situation, Task, Action, Result — and we practiced framing our several narratives using STAR. Each fellow did a mock interview prompt and got instant feedback.

As the last session of the Millennium Fellowship, we closed with a final reflection. Fellows shared their experience, personal growth points, project outcomes, and commitments going forward. We discussed sustainability of our projects beyond the Fellowship and the role of the Millennium Campus Network as our ongoing support system. The campus directors gave concluding remarks, celebrating our progress and commitment to the fellowship.

The session was reflective, empowering, and a fitting close to our Fellowship journey. 👏

Millennium Fellowship Training Session 5 ✨

On the 12th of November, 2025, LASUCOM Millennium Fellows from Cohort B converged for the fifth training session.

In this session, we learnt about community mapping — how to identify key stakeholders, local resources, potential partners, and beneficiaries within the communities our projects target. Through group exercises, we practiced mapping real scenarios to better understand the concept, and to visualise opportunities that could affect project implementation.

Afterwards, we had an engaging session focused on "honing our pitch and crafting an elevator pitch". Fellows learned the core elements of a compelling pitch: the problem, our unique solution, impact, and the ask. Selected persons drafted a 60-second elevator pitch and practiced delivery, with tips on clarity, confidence, and tailoring the message to different audiences.

The session ended with our regular "facilitated peer feedback" segment. Fellows presented their updated project ideas and pitches in small groups, receiving constructive feedback on feasibility, and advises on how to move forward. The session was wrapped up with brief remarks from our campus directors.

The session was practical and engaging overall.

MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP TRAINING SESSION FOUR (4) ✨

On October 31st, the LASUCOM Millennium Fellows from both cohorts came together for a joint training session as their fourth session. 🤝
The session focused on setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals and objectives, with engaging scenarios that illustrated the importance of this framework in project planning. We also learned how to apply SMART principles to our individual projects, enhancing our chances of success.

Fellows were then divided into two groups discussing two different tracks: budgeting and management. The budgeting track provided valuable insights on effective fundraising and financial management, including the donor's perspective and best practices for managing funds.
The management track offered practical advice on building strong relationships with superiors, how to properly guide, mentor and interview with our juniors/team members, and fostering a positive work environment. The importance of effective relationships and collaboration was emphasized throughout the exercise.

The session concluded with a thought-provoking address from our Programs Coordinator, Mr Marvellous Sunmiboye @marvey_marvey who shed light on the Millennium Campus Network and the power of strategic networking.

Overall, the session was engaging, informative, and a great opportunity for growth and connection. 🎉

On October 1st, Cohort B Millennium Fellows also gathered for our second training session, where we explored the concept of social impact and its significance to each of us.
We crafted our vision boards and personal vision statements, reflecting our core values and passions.

The session featured a "Who We're Serving" exercise, where we focused on how to integrate empathy, humility, and inclusion into our social impact initiatives. We learnt the concept of objectification and how to avoid it in our social impact work. We also engaged in lively discussions on real-world scenarios in diverse communities.

We concluded the session with a "Learning Before Serving" exercise, which highlighted the importance of understanding the genuine needs of a community rather than making assumptions, and approaching community work with humility as partners rather than saviors.
It was another exciting learning experience! 🤩

New Journey Begins 🚀
On the 17th of September, Millennium Fellows in Lasucom Cohort B converged to hold our first training session termed "Beginning our journey - Welcome Millennium Fellows".
In this session, we learnt the three core values of Millennium Campus Network - Empathy, Humility and Inclusion and how to incorporate them into our work. We dived into the 17SDGs and learnt specifically about the ones we aim to advance with our projects.
We had a fun and engaging shared networking session where fellows were able to interact and form deeper relationships with one another.
As a cohort, We also agreed on values and principles that will be guiding us throughout the fellowship. It was a really fantastic start to a great journey.

“Become a lifesaver, donate blood”. This was one of the key lines that was used while advocating for the blood donation drive organized by @onehealthls in commemoration of World cancer day.

I feel great and happy to be a part of the wonderful team that made this activity a success. As an advocate for good health and well-being, I have always been passionate about anything that can further improve the wellbeing of the general populace. The vision of @onehealthls in combating the blood shortage crisis in the country is one that needs an applause.

Under the leadership of @idrisiib , we were able to partner with @lagosstatebloodtransfusion for a successful blood donation drive. We got over a 100 pint of blood from our SUPERHEROES. Thank you to everyone who came out to donate their blood and to everyone who had the intention to donate but were not eligible. We appreciate you and pray God almighty continue to bless you.
