POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Taking a break but I hope this doesn’t last forever…

Thank you to everyone I’ve met at @cptcle from Masrah to Core ensemble to the crew and staff for the last almost 4 years of friendships and growth. I came in as a curious ex-theatre kid and I’m leaving as a confident actor, writer, and director.

مسرح = عايلة
None of us expected this experience to take us this far yet I’m so glad it did. Our ragtag group adapted to a comical amount of changes and still made some beautiful theatre. Arabi theatre!! at that :) And now we can’t get rid of each other, which is good cause I have separation anxiety. 😇 Our art is resistance and so is our love!!! 🇸🇾🇵🇸🇱🇧

Opening night is tonight Thursday 11/16/2023 at 6:30pm!

Masrah has always been about sharing stories, and there’s no better time for us to share our stories than at this moment. It’s the best time to remind the world we are humans, we have hopes and dreams, and we have people who we love and who love us.

Hope to see you all this weekend!

In March, we completed a sold-out run of the work in progress The Outstretched Hand يد الوصال, a story conceptualized, written, and performed by Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi مسرح كليفلاند العربي, under the guidance of Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan. Through our partnering organization Togetherness US, CPT donated all ticket sales to support survivors of the earthquake that destroyed much of Syria this year.

We are thrilled to share that along with additional donations from audience members, we raised $5,804.95! Thanks to all who attended, donated and/or helped us spread the word.

This collaboration was made possible through the dedication of Alma Khoury Korkor, a long-time Togetherness US board member, who we are elated to announce has just been appointed to Cleveland Public Theatre’s board of directors. We hope this effort is only the beginning of a partnership between our two organizations.

Spend your Friday evening with us as Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi مسرح كليفلاند العربي takes the CPT summer stage to present spoken word performances of poems, in collaboration with Raymond Bobgan and Faye Hargate, that seek to build bridges between performers and audiences in a powerful experience of cross-cultural work. Through Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi, Arabic-speaking communities of Cleveland share vital, life-affirming stories celebrating family, dignity, and freedom of expression. Immerse yourself in their stories and experiences. If you can’t see this performance, you have another opportunity to see them on July 25 at The Cleveland Cultural Gardens at 4:30pm. Back in 2018, we launched Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi’s first show called Dream of Home حلم وطن. It started with a workshop production which then grew into a full production and has now become a staple Resident Ensemble at CPT. On December 16, we will be live-streaming Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi’s inaugural play Dream of Home حلم وطن with a post-show community conversation afterwards. Personal stories of home, heritage, and culture are told by the ensemble members. Don’t miss this second chance to see this special performance that started it all! Click the link in our bio for more info about the performance and tickets!
