The ByFlossie Edit: The Hosting Handbook 🤍

A little love letter to the art of having people over.

With the festive season fast approaching, and plenty of hosting on the horizon, I thought it was the perfect time to share my very own little handbook for entertaining at home.

From beautifully laid tables and thoughtful finishing touches to the brands and people I turn to for inspiration, consider this a collection of all the little things that make having people over feel special.

Because I firmly believe the best gatherings aren’t necessarily the fanciest. They’re the ones where the candles are lit, the wine is flowing and nobody’s in any particular hurry to leave.

Here’s to a season of full tables, good company and making a little more of the everyday. 🥂

We love a bit of funk and colour in the kitchen.

From playful stripes and bold ceramics to colourful glassware, we’re all for everyday objects that bring a little more joy and personality into our homes.

And the best part? Every piece featured here comes from an independent British business run by women. Even more reason to love them. 🙌

For October’s edition of How to Collecto, we dress the Alhambra Green Dinnerware collection for every autumn occasion. Indoors or alfresco, tap the curations to discover the pieces behind each table 🍂

When cooler evenings call the party indoors, pair the Alhambra dinnerware with the Valver Tobacco placemats. The contrast makes for a sit-down dinner that still feels fresh and effortlessly chic.

For those of us where autumn arrives gently and dinner can still be served outdoors, the Alhambra collection shines on its own, no placemat required. Pair it with food that feels rooted, glassware that starts the conversation, and flatware that romanticizes every bite, and you’ll be the host everyone remembers this fall.

Collecto’s wedding registry is the destination for couples who want something extraordinary. Focused on tableware and décor that transcend the everyday, we help each couple curate a bespoke table that tells a story as personal as their own.

One of my favourite small spaces I’ve designed - a family breakfast room off the main kitchen in my Chelsea project as featured in @houseandgardenuk earlier this year 🩵. The encaustic tiles by @bertandmay add in unexpected interest to the floor and allowed us to keep the walls neutral to make space for our client’s artwork. Rich rust mohair on the bespoke banquette seating is hardwearing for family life, softened with many favourite fabrics on the loose cushions. There are also some lovely green glazed doors out to the garden, out of shot here 🌱🌾.

Setting up ahead of friends on our neighborhood beach — a table that’s elevated and still easy to carry down. Beach-friendly bamboo flatware, enamel spatterware, linen, and acrylic with the loveliest “china” paper plates.
