Spend three weeks exploring design, culture, and place across Japan and South Korea with the Iowa State University College of Design. Graphic Design Week is underway, and we’re excited to announce our last keynote speaker, @roccocaruso221 (Designer, @iowacubs ) Rocco’s workshop brief: Students will be working within brand guidelines under the speed of a simulated baseball game. Each student will create various graphics based on the events of the game as they happen to post on team social accounts (ex. go ahead home run graphic, final score graphic, etc), with deliverables due at the conclusion of the game for review.

It’s irritating, cringy, and sadly becoming the new normal. When an image is fully generated, it loses the human layer that transforms pixels into design: communication. Great design isn’t just the finished look. It’s about interpreting client direction, making strategic decisions, and understanding the business. So how do we keep designing in a world full of AI clutter and a society that’s losing respect for our craft? Join me in this workshop as we tackle one of the biggest wicked problems graphic designers are facing today: Generative AI.
