Nothing Less Than This.

The bar you set and the invitation that you hold... that life is lived through action in our communities and through our hearts.

You have demonstrated valiantly over 18 years how to show up for those that you love. You set the bar high because it's how you love and it's how you give -- I'm honored to meet that mark and share this life with you.

Happy Birthday Beloved Lilly... you are loved and cherished beyond measure.

What did we know, these two young humans?

Did we know what it takes to build a life together?
Did we know what it’s like to build a business together?
Did we know what it would be like to raise two amazing daughters together?
Did we know what it would be like to move countries together, to live through so many sudden life changes together?
Did we know what it would be like to spend 26 years together?

We had no clue.

And I’m so grateful that we didn’t know.
So grateful that we trusted ourselves, and each other, to figure out every step together.

Some steps were harder, some were super clear.
And through all of it, we did it by trusting each other.

Sometimes questioning…
but the core of us, the heart frequency of us, always knew that we belong right here.

As we started—
in each other’s arms,
doing our best version of ourselves in front of one another,
and always, always trusting our hearts.

Thank you for being the best man a woman can ask for,
and for creating a safe container for me to keep finding who I am.

In gratitude we access the deepest place in our hearts ,where life feels exactly as it’s meant to be, and some moments are more magical than we ever imagined. Thank you, family.
Thank you, tribe.
For your incredible hearts,
where love becomes all we truly need. ❤️

My favorite holiday, celebrated with family and dear friends, sharing food, fire, music and so much love.

25 years of life with you.
Of creating with you.
Of being curious with you.
Of not knowing—and still choosing.
Of knowing—and choosing again.

The story of us continues to be written
as we step through this threshold into part two—
The part where we become even more who we are.
Where we show up fully, proudly, unabashedly—
Not needing to shrink or bend—just to be.

And we do that in front of each other.
With devotion.
With trust.
Knowing that no matter what,
we’ve got each other.

I get to unfold in front of you
as you unfold in front of me.

What a gift.
What a love.
What a life.

Wishing us more and more blissful moments
of meeting each other in that place
where it all makes sense. ❤️❤️

Year-End Message from ThoughINAKA

As we bid farewell to 2024 and prepare to welcome 2025, we reflect on a year filled with meaningful connections, memorable journeys, and the continued pursuit of our mission: connecting the rustic soul of Japan to the world.

This year, as Japan saw record-breaking numbers of inbound tourists, we observed the challenges of over-tourism in urban hotspots. The crowds may be flocking to cities, but the services and experiences once synonymous with Japan’s hospitality are at risk of decline. On the other side, rural areas—where traditions thrive, and authentic connections flourish—still hold untapped potential but face unique challenges such as access, infrastructure, and visibility.

At ThoughINAKA, we remain committed to bridging these gaps. Every itinerary we create is tailored to individual needs, offering not just trips but transformative experiences rooted in Japan’s rural heartlands. From knife-making workshops with master craftsmen to sharing meals with local communities, our goal is to bring you closer to the soul of Japan, one story at a time.

We owe immense gratitude to our local guides—our storytellers—whose passion brings every journey to life, and to the artisans, chefs, and community members who welcome travelers with open arms. Your enthusiasm and dedication inspire us every day.

To our dearest guests, thank you for your willingness to step off the beaten path, for driving those extra miles
to meet us, and for embracing the true essence of rural Japan. Your curiosity and appreciation fuel our mission and give meaning to our work.

As we step into 2025, we are excited to introduce new offerings—curated retreats, bespoke itineraries, and regenerative tourism experiences—crafted for those seeking peace, authenticity, and deeper connections. Together, let’s continue exploring Japan’s hidden treasures and creating unforgettable memories.

Here’s to another year of meaningful journeys and shared stories.

Warm regards,
ThoughINAKA Team

A Reunion of Epic Proportions 🔥

Coming together to celebrate Lilly's birthday, meeting her incredible community, and reigniting the cherished friendships we shared in NYC.

Happy Birthday, Lilly (July 30th)!

I can’t imagine this journey without you, and I’m beyond grateful that I don’t have to. You are loved more than words can express—infinitely and then some.

So life changes and sometimes you don’t get to travel with your friends anymore. Well, I had to let voyager go. Big boat takes a lot of work and I’m working on a new film and I don’t have the time to take care of her. If I had a ton of money, and I could hire other people to take care of her, that would be different, but it’s not the right toy from me right now. So I have to give her to a friend and I will sail on her again don’t worry.

My dog Cappuccino is now 15 years old. She’s starting to slow down. As a matter of fact she looks like and acts like an old beat up Hackysack. She just melts on the floor most of the time. She’s deaf, dumb and blind. Two of those three things are new. She’s always been dumb, but we love her. Some day I am going to make a documentary film about dogs. Nothing would make me happier.
