1st rifle elk camp was pretty insane!
Finally got my big brother his big Colorado public land bull he’s wanted for a long time. He went 315’’ with a broken off 5th on his left side, woulda topped 320’’ all day if he wasn’t broken. We went into this incredibly hard hunt with high standards and it payed off! We passed a bull in this same caliber opening morning and after kicking ourselves in the butt for doing that, we decided we weren’t going to make that mistake again. Opening day evening, we jumped about 40 head of cows hiking to our glassing knob and when this big guy came up the back of the herd screaming wondering what was happening we knew we needed to throw down and get bullets flying fast! Trist sent 2 rounds at 500 yards into his good stuff and I watched him drop in my binos. It was an unforgettable moment with my brother!!👊🏻❤️

We were also lucky enough to have my good buddy @itchin4fishing out there with us helping and hunting along the way, with a tag of his own. We were able to get him a mature busted up 5x5 pushing 8 cows the following morning, practically from camp! Stopped the bull with a cow call and Jaydan got a round in him mid bugle, It was my first time watching a bull get shot mid bugle and I must say it was epic! He went about 30 yards and piled over! I couldn’t have asked for a better season with better people!🙏 My bull tag of my own can’t come soon enough.
