Very sappy post incoming: I’ve been a fan of reality competitions shows for as long as I can remember. I became a massive Big Brother fan (hi @jesse.tannenbaum ) after watching Ian Terry win his season in 2012, and several years later would start watching Survivor to get closer to my sister. My sister had seen every season, she was a massive fan. But she was diagnosed with cancer early 2023, and lost her battle a few months later. It was the hardest year our family has ever faced, she was the glue that kept us together. But at least for me, being able to talk to her about Survivor every week a new episode was on, talking about what players would succeed on the Traitors, it provided a normalcy for us, to distract from all the heartbreaking news. Her favorite winner was @sassysdt during Pearl Islands, she HATED @car0lynr0se for some reason (I politely told her she was wrong about that one) and always wanted to apply, but being a mother of 3 rowdy boys on a teacher’s salary made it hard for her to justify it. I wanted to apply for Survivor in tribute of my sister, but being diabetic does actually disqualify me (very reasonably).

So this gown, made to look like a Survivor buff patchwork fantasy by the geniuses at @rubykeydesign for me, is a love letter to my sister, to anyone who’s a fan of Survivor, to all of the players past/present/future, to lovers of competition shows. I might never get to compete in Fiji, but I do believe I’ve given the community something beautiful, in celebration of Season 50.

Thank you for reading if you got this far. Love you Sissy, you would’ve adored this and that brings me such a warmth today.
