A part of me feels like I choose to come to @adfest in Thailand as a selfish excuse for a tropical vacation… and then I get here and remember all the real friendships I’ve made over the handful of times I’ve attended and it can end up feeling more like a reunion than a networking event - or tropical vacation (although it still honestly checks all those boxes). I’m thankful for the way Adfest has become a part of my life and professional journey. And Thailand - as chaotic as it may be at times - is just one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Strange as it may sound, one of my favorite parts of Adfest is catching up with our friends at competing audio houses. @blackcatwhitecat_music and @tracksandfields are some of my closest friends in the industry - what a surprising blessing it is to have friends like them. We may compete for the same jobs, but we also have a shared experience in doing what we do - and we all seem to find ways to have a fun time doing it. I’m so grateful for their camaraderie. I’m still conflicted every time I come because I end up missing my family back home so much - but maybe I’ll just bring them with me next year?! Anybody else wanna go with me next year? Let’s start planning now…

It takes a village to make anything. We are so grateful for ours. From our incredible Oregon farm location- @nightsong.farm to special effects and baby/goat handling- @logan_triplett More helping hands! Jillian’s dance teacher (also balloon wrangler)- @dancevision The amazing @tse_cheese who so generously provided gear and was our camera operator for the pre-vis shoot. Thank you @beaufp and @tu_devera @elementsdancespace for the space and time to create this work. Special thanks to @angelakohler + @ithyle as well as Daniel Reetz @usemoreforce for hosting our puppet making! Who did it better? When the art department doubles as the “talent”… 💅🎬 Before the models hit the runway, the crew had to MAKE the runway — and test it, obviously!
Shot this epic sprinkler catwalk at a Vegas water park for @crocs, and yes, it was both the most fun and hardest job we’ve done yet. 5:30am call times in the desert cold. Midday sun hitting triple digits. Running tubes and talent up five flights of stairs.
All to bring a wild, water-filled vision to life. Massive shoutout to my incredible team for making it happen and making it hilarious. @shannonmakesprops @xylonjones @dewolf44 Directed by @angelakohler + @ithyle Costume design @alishasilverstein Make up @missgiamakeup #artdepartment #setdesign #behindthescenes #productionlife #vegas #waterparkshoot #artteam #sprinklerrunway #crewlife #btsmagic

ADFEST 2/3 ::: the conference • THE PARTIES • the experience Ok here’s where things get a lil wild. Adfest is great at coordinating presentations, panels, and award shows. But it’s REALLY great at parties. There’s always a good combo of slightly sophisticated event-sanctioned parties and then there’s the wild, attendee-hosted, all-out PARTY parties. Too many pics to post. Too many stories to tell. Too many ibuprofen the next morning. Sweet moment: when our friends at Black Cat White Cat (a competing music company in Tokyo that we’re close friends with) asked our Tokyo-based producer Alan to step up to the mic at the closing party. Errybody got a lil taste of A.valley that night Another sweet moment: when Brock and I’s new BFF Rob Sherlock realizes we have a mutual friend in John Godsey and he tries to FaceTime him at some ungodly hour and we end up leaving him a wild video / voicemail. Ha! Whoops! You know what they say about Adfest: come for the parties, stay for the parties.

ADFEST 1/3 ::: THE CONFERENCE • the parties • the experience I spent the last few days in Pattaya, Thailand with Brock (KS) and Alan (Tokyo) at an event called Adfest. This is my third time to the conference and each time I come, I leave feeling both inspired and exhausted. I’ve made friends here over the years - people that I truly admire and love - and it feels like a beautiful reunion each time I come back. We got a booth again this year so, like a 1920’s carnival slinger, I stood there calling people to come visit us and learn about Primary Color Music and The Post Haus. We met tons of ad execs, creatives, film directors, production companies from all over the world, the marketing team for a cookie company from Bangladesh as well as the marketing team for Ajinomoto (sprinklable MSG from Japan), and so many more. I’ve got a lot of follow ups to do for the 100+ biz cards I received! (Yes, the business card game is still strong in Asia) For our booth, we had a life-size picture of the Rock photoshopped to look like he was holding our swag so people could come and take a picture with him (lol). Turns out we got the measurements wrong so he ended up being about 5’8” (ha!!). We were also a little concerned about copyright issues with using his image but once we reached Pattaya and noticed that every restaurant or taxi had illegally co-opted some major character or brand (the Hulk, Venom, McD’s..) we knew we’d be ok. We also tricked everyone into walking around the conference with signs that said “I’m a fan of Primary Color Music” because it was actually… a fan. #gotem and we tatted people up with temp tats as well. I liked to say “..this just lasts about six months..” right as I would start to apply the tattoo. Got some good reacts from that. Lastly but not leastly, the presentation portion of the conference was great. Our buds at Black Cat White Cat Music gave a fun talk and Mike from Push had my brain fully stimulated at 10am with his talk about deep culture’s role in portraying ‘coolness’ in Japanese marketing. What a time! Anybody wanna go with us next year?

Hundreds of videos, commercials, music videos, and four feature films have brought us to this point. A quick taste of our past, that hints at our future. #pinkribbonskies #womeninfilm
