18/Aug/2023 — Bhimashankar Jyotirling 🕉️

After a tiring day in Aurangabad covering Grishneshwar Jyotirling and Ellora Caves (previous reel - please watch if haven’t yet), I boarded a bus to Pune at night and reached early morning around 4–5 AM. I got fresh at the bus stand washrooms (yes, that awkward eww moment 😅) and then took the next bus towards Bhimashankar Jyotirling.

The route was beautiful, full of greenery and hills (last slide), but honestly I spent most of it sleeping because I was too tired 😆. After reaching Bhimashankar, I started looking for a room where I could take a bath before going for darshan. During this, I met this guy, Tilak Modi (on slide 4), who turned out to be on a very similar journey as mine — completing all 12 Jyotirlings. We instantly connected and became friends, and he later even helped me cover Dwarka, Somnath, and Nageshwar Jyotirlings, though that is a story for another post.

After bathing, we went for darshan at Bhimashankar Jyotirling, and surprisingly, there is no uphill chadhayi here. Instead, you actually have to go downhill, descending a long stretch of stairs to reach the temple. Since it was the rainy season, the stairs had water all over, and by the time we reached the temple, my socks were completely drenched.

After completing darshan and having lunch (yes, pahadon vali Maggi exists here as well 😄), we took the next bus towards Manchar, where I said goodbye to Tilak, had vada pav and then boarded another bus towards my final stop of this journey — Nashik (same journey which started all the way from Ujjain). By the time I reached Nashik, I had developed a fever, mainly because I had been walking around in wet socks since early morning…

✨ Next post: Let’s meet at Nashik — Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling 🕉️
