We are excited to announce this year’s staff of The Amistad, Howard University’s very own student-led literary arts journal. Our mission is to evaluate the creative voices of the Black diaspora through poetry, fiction, interviews, and visual art!

Don’t forget!! We are still accepting submissions for this year’s publication, entitled, “Revolution: Rejecting the Status Quo & Reifying Black Love Through Art & Culture”. Click the link in our bio for more info.

Who knew that picking up a flute over a decade ago could lead me here?

To my Sisters: Throughout my years I have prayed and asked God for sisters and bonds that I could have for a life time. I am thankful for the people I encountered before you guys, but I am so glad that I was able to go through this with y’all and gain people I know will be there for me for the rest of my life. You guys are best friends, future bridesmaids, and future aunties to my kids. I am so so so grateful for everyone, and I love you all so much. Let’s continue to grow this sisterhood, and do great things for the chapter and for the world.

To my Dean and A-Dean:
You guys are some of the most inspiring people I have ever met. I am so thankful that you two were the people to lead me through. You guys are very strong willed, caring, and empowering. You guys saw the potential in us even when we did not see it, and I know that we would not be here without you. You encourage me to work harder, and dig deeper into the core of myself to shine like I know I can. I will never forget the memories I have created with y’all, and I look forward to the memories we are going to create together. Thank you for everything, and I love you both dearly.

I am looking forward to a lifetime of service

To my sisTAU’s, thank you all for being the missing piece of my puzzle. I needed each of you more than you realize, and I am forever grateful that we were brought together. To my dean staff and big sisters, thank you for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I couldn’t have done it without all of you!
