*Sighs in academic relief.
I have written a lot of things in my life but I have never written anything as daring and bold as this.
It was/is the most mentally and physically exhausting beautiful work I’ve written till date.
I gave my blood, sweat and tears for this. (Literally)
I broke down several times while writing this, cried a river, swam in depression and frustration, and screamed in academic danger. I’m immensely grateful for the support provided by friends and family who helped me during the research project especially those who gave me a shoulder to cry on and allowed me rant about how frustrated I was. I am very thankful for all the adversities which crossed my path during the writing process of this research and taught me tolerance, perseverance, self control and some other virtues I might never have known. I'm thankful for it all. The highs. The lows. The blessings. The lessons. The setbacks. The comebacks. The love. Everything! I cannot emphasize how important this research is to me. I am super proud of what I have done.
To LGBTQ+ persons in Nigeria, especially those who have experienced violent homophobia, there’s no you without YOU! You are all you say you are! You are all you can be! Sending you buckets of love, light and strength.🖤 You are the reason for this!
