POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Andover New Street 0 Whitehill and Bordon Veterans 1

In a very competitive and physical challenge away from home against a very capable @andovernewstreetvets - The Stags capitalised early into the second half after some dynamic play from Captain Parker, beating two and unlocking the in-form Stapleton with a clean strike from the edge of the box.

In a physical battle in all areas of the pitch, the home team were denied by the powerhouse Joey Brock from the penalty spot (very dubious award) late in the second half, who claimed the PoTm award with another fingertip save in the first half. His second clean sheet in as many weeks 🏆

The returning ‘DemButtery’ in at centre back alongside The Reverend in a new look central defensive setup with Serhii commanding at both left and right back over the 90mins. Dan Sleater came back into the squad after a short sabbatical and looked solid in the air and with the ball at his feet.

An action packed first half for Davis as the tricky winger had a few heavy impacts that resulted in both players being substituted off before both entering the FOP again for round 2 + 3.

It was full rotation across the midfield with the dynamic Ben Smith, Tom Alexander and Dave Nicol containing the midfield, allowing Edmondson, Melinte and Parker to inject energy and intensity into the final thirds.

A late cameo from Fifield who showed quick feet on an old body to give Melinte another golden opportunity to increase his tally for the season.

Melinte became kit-man for the weekend after not converting his chances, on another day, the wizard gets a hat-trick!

Chris Brown said after the game;

‘So pleased with the lads performance today. Energy all over the pitch, and even though we knew it would a battle today, we went to war and the hard worked paid off’

Brown later added, “Big shout out to Baz, I’ve missed the past few weeks due to other “personal commitments” and the lads attitude, togetherness and aura was great be back around”.

Wishing Andover NS all the best for the season - great lads 🤝

A well deserved victory for The Stags as the now get a break for a week as we advance into the next round of The Mike Parker Trophy.

Matchday weekend for the Veteran Stags 🦌

After a cup bye in last weeks fixture. The Herd had an action-stacked training session mid-week and everyone looked very sharp.

This week we are away to @farnboroughfc Veterans in The Hampshire County Cup.

We welcome back some familiar faces who have been away on international duty, including “The Farmers Dog” Ionut Ratoi. A stacked bench, a powerful starting eleven and a new kit to showcase for the Veterans.

Club Capitain @ot10ten will be keen to impact the game as he unlocks Benjamin Button Chromosomes in his 200th league appearance in all seasons. Probably.

Big Stag Energy!

Retained ✍️

Leigh “Ze Horse” Wilson commits to The Stags for another season.

The dynamic and energetic winger adds serious pace to the front line. Wilson scored 10 goals in last years campaign and assisted 6. An important player who isn’t always available, but when he is, causes havoc for wingbacks across the county.

“So pleased to have Leigh for an another season” said Co-Manager @chris_c_bee in a recent interview with BBC South Today.

“A popular player amongst the squad who chases everything.” Added Parker

Wilson is available for the up-coming reverse fixture against Mondial this weekend and is straight into the travelling squad.

Frimley Green 2–1 Whitehill & Bordon FC Veterans

Farnham & District League | Division One

The Veteran Stags opened their account on the road at a very poor (almost unplayable) Frimley Green Pitch, and while the scoreline reads as a 2–1 defeat, it told almost nothing of the story. On a first outing for a squad featuring eight new faces, this was a performance to build a season on.

From the first whistle, the Stags took the game to their hosts, dominating every area of the pitch, moving the ball with purpose and looking the more composed, more dangerous side throughout. Every time they went forward they carried a threat.

The game’s defining moment came on 33 minutes. A cross shot from Oram-Tooley was hammered goalwards and clearly crossed the line, the ball well over by some distance, but the goal was not given. On any pitch with goal-line technology, the Stags lead 1–0 at the break and this is a very different afternoon. Instead, a clear goal was chalked off, and the game turned on a decision that should never have been.

Conditions did the spectacle no favours either. The playing surface was among the worst the squad has encountered, genuinely unsafe in places, and a real credit to both sides that football was played on it at all. The Stags, to their credit, still tried to play the right way, and largely succeeded.

Despite the setback of the disallowed goal, the Stags kept coming. Their persistence was rewarded on 80’ minutes, when a superb James Harvey cross was met by Parker, who made no mistake with a top bins header to level the game - a deserved equaliser and no more than the performance merited.

A scuffed-goal against the run of play on 86th minute gave the home team the points.

Co-Manager Chris Brown;

“In a squad made up of eight new faces today, the boys did themselves proud. Frimley got lucky, they know it, and they won’t be looking forward to the return fixture. Every time we went forward we looked dangerous. No doubt whatsoever we’ll get our revenge.”

The Stags are back in action next weekend, at home on a 4G surface, against Mondial Veterans and will be looking to convert this level of performance into three points.

We go again #UTS 🦌

The Veteran Stags win their final friendly away to our good friends Alton FC Veterans 🦌

@wbveterans 3 - 2 @altonfcvets

⚽️ Melinte 26’ [assist Parker]
⚽️ Oram-Tooley 38’
⚽️ Parker 85’ [assist Melinte]

Always a hard battle between the two competitive Hampshire squads. From kick-off the game was played at a high pace, with opportunities in both boxes.

The visitors took the lead after some advanced defensive play from Parker who calmly rode a few high tackles to slide Melinte to smartly finish past the Alton Keeper.

At minute 36’ after some intricate play between Nicol, Harvey and Davis created a deep cross for OT to twist, turn and finish well at the near post.

Bacheta came off with a tight hamstring and was replaced by Small who has been chomping since his transition from GK>STR.

The holding midfielders Martin, Smith and Nicol broke down the advances and the central defensive partnership of Parker and Alexander was unbreakable.

2-0 at half-time

6 new players Introduced at the half with season debuts for Horner, Lyness and Buttery sliding into the defence and Young adopting his usual attacking wide role.

With some tiring bodies, two quick goals for the home team, called for changes at 55’.

With battles across the park in all positions, there was a solid battle across the entire games at LB for the Stags defence. Sememchenko gained some battle scars and secured MOTM for his performance.

The Stags had 20 players available for the fixture, managing minutes with 8 players still not yet available due to injury, work and travel, meant a good flex for the visiting squad.

Huge thanks to @whitehillbordonfc for the use of their @telfairconstruction second kit whilst the new kit is built 🤝

A promising start and now undefeated in the pre-season tour of Hampshire.

A great fixture that was a great watch for the neutral and a positive for the visiting Stags who start their league campaign away to Frimley on Sunday 6th September.

A new chapter begins.

Three seasons. Four promotions. A club built from the ground up, run entirely off our own backs, and a group of players who became mates.

To everyone who supported us, thank you. You made it what it was, and that legacy comes with us.

Now we go again.

From 2026/27 we’re Whitehill & Bordon Veterans “The Veteran Stags”, playing Division One of the Farnham & District League at The Daly Ground, Bordon.

Follow our journey @wbveterans

New home. New badge. Same energy.

Our door is open to any player over 35 who wants to be part of what we’re building. There’s a place for you in the herd 🦌

A separate team will continue at Headley next season, run by a previous management in a lower league division. Two distinct teams, two options, players are free to choose the football that’s right for them, and we wish the Headley side well 🤝

Thank you for everything.
