I often find myself sitting back and reflecting on just how grateful I am to have such a tight-knit community of women who love me, value me, and genuinely care for me. Over the past six years of Art For Goons, I realized I haven’t properly introduced the brand and what AFG means, since I had 100 followers back in 2020. So here’s me fixing that and bridging that gap so that you all have a better understanding of the work I do and why I do it. I started this brand with nothing but love and appreciation for my homies and for the beauty of their existence, stories, and undeniable qualities of greatness. Our stories are the ones that need to be told and preserved. I refuse to have our cultures be diminished to the “Goons” in a negative connotation as it once was. I have chosen to take the power away from this word and turn it into a term of endearment for the ones we love. AFG is my baby, and I have nothing but love and the intention to do this work for the rest of my life. Art For Goons is for the people, the culture, and the generations that come after us. I am here to document the greatness of our people and nothing less. After six years, I have chosen to focus directly on AFG’s new official message of Black Liberation, as Black Liberation is the liberation of all people. When we lift up one, the rest of us never fall behind.
