SIX YEARS, as an instrument of God’s love!

In the year 2020, I joined the Board of Lectors, St. Dominic’s. Few years after my confirmation (Augustine, 2017), a few months into my first semester in UNILAG and a few weeks before the lockdown proper💆‍♂️

My set auditioned and were transitioned from Children’s ministry to the senior board - we were called COVID set 🤣 But it was a journey I couldn’t foretell - a journey of family!

I remember the early days, being so excited about the nuances and peculiarities that came with the ministry of being a Lector, and omo - it still remains a new thing everyday. A new experience daily!

I was assigned firstly to the Deanery committee, where we used to “ball” across different parishes; then to Socials where I was closer to the hearts of members, and currently in the Programme’s committee where we “make things happen!”

For me, the board has been nothing short of the best family I’ve being welcomed into in the church. All different tongues and stripes, but united in faith and call to proclaim and live God’s word: it’s a beautiful place!

Today, we celebrate Pentecost, our feast day in the parish, and my sixth in the board. I am grateful and inspired to reflect on everything, from attending deanery meetings and making the best of friends across different parishes and cultures, to participating and winning competitions at parish, Deanery and Archdiocesan levels - it’s been an emotional and beautiful story! The richness of experience, discipline, love and passion in the board is second to none!

So yeah - pray for me, and all who serve in any capacity: in the faith or secular spaces. And as we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit today, may God continue to fill us with fruits and gifts that keep us believing, proclaiming and living the gospel every day!
